On 6 AUG 1920 the Kapunda Herald reported that:-
Mr Moses Bettison who died this week at Salisbury, was well known in Kapunda where he resided for many years. He was born in St Austell, Cornwall, England 86 years ago and came to Australia in the ship John Banks when 20 years of age. He came straight to Kapunda and obtained employment on the mine. He stayed here some time and then went to work for Mr Thomas Harvey of Bagot's Well. In 1870 he went to Moonta but returned to Kapunda 33 years ago. He married a daughter of Mr Harvey and she died at Hare Street 30 years ago. A family of six sons and two daughters survive. They are Messrs T.H. (Mt Mary), W.E. and R.A. (Broken Hill), J and E (Moonta) and (Hindmarsh); Mrs E. Langmaid (Salisbury) and Mrs Bell (Broken Hill). The remains were brought to Kapunda for interment
