When first laid out in 1786, frank.gif (852 bytes)Frankfort was located in (2)Fayette County and gradually spread across the river into what was then (5)Mercer County, until (9)Woodford County was created in 1789. By 1795 (18) Franklin County was created. On the map, the  Triangular Shaped area between (17) &(19) was transfered from (7)Bourbon to (17)Harrison in 1794, then from Harrison to (19)Campbell County in 1795.
