Thomas GOULD

DEATH: Thomas died in his 79th year according to tombstone. I have photo. On the death rec of his dau Sarah it says that his birthplace is Cork, Ireland. Someone crossed out Cork and with a ballpoint pen printed Dublin. It is believed that his parents were Scots-Irish. Before he married Nancy Howell he one time operated a tavern--probably in the area of Toronto. His grandaughter Belle Mathews has a family bible that says that the parents of Thomas Gould came from Scotland to Northern Ireland. This is the Daniel Howell Family Bible. There are a lot of Goulds around Belfast, Ireland, which is in Northern Ireland. The Canadian 1871 census says that Thomas Gould was affiliated with The Church of England--Anglican. Furthermore, the death cert. of his dau Maria says that her father Thomas Gould was from Dublin, Ireland. The Ontario death rec says he died from congestion of lungs one week.

Richard GOULD

It is said that Thomas Gould may have had a brother named Richard Gould. There is no evidence of this as of 2003.

Daniel HOWELL farmer

The Fam His Dept. calculated the "abt" birthdate as 1802 but the census of
1871 for Pelham twp.,Welland co., Ontario Canada shows his(Daniel Howell)
birthdate as 1798. His descent is Protestant Irish. He was married to
Sally Hill about 1826. Actually my father-Gordon Gould Knoll and my
mother Elta Florence Kathleen Learn are both related to this Daniel and
Sally. Michele Dipert says that Daniel Howell(1798) was born in New Jersey and came to Porter, N.Y. when a young man and bought a farm and spent his last days in Canada. His wife Sally was born in Ireland and died in Porter, N.Y. in 1847.
The book "Landmarks of Niagarta County" Page 242, Part 1 says---Daniel Howell Sr.( my 2gg father married to Sarah Hill) was born in New Jersey and came to Porter , NY, when a young man bought a farm and spent his last days in Canada.
