Johann Ludwig VON WELTZIN

His generation spelling of Weltzin could have been Weltzien. He was a German Lieutenant and left Germany for Norway in his early twenties. 400 years before Johann Ludwig Von Weltzin was born there was a Knight Deneke de Weltzin --1270-1309, married to a Bertha Passage was secured on the sailing ship URANIA out of the port of Stavanger, Norway. Those making the trip were: 32 yr. old Wilhelm Bierck & his wife Maria, 29 yr. old Caspar Julius Weltzin & wife Magdalene, Carl Frederick Weltzin & his wife Maria and infant son Joachim Frederick Weltzin(11 weeks old). After 16 Weeks they reached Quebec on 25 July 1854 About 15,000 Norwegians and Swedes immigrated to Wisconsin through Quebic in 1854. Carl Frederick played the flute. The community church in Primrose was divided over the issue of slavery. The church was burned to the ground.
