Cornelius CARMACK

I believe Cornelius was a Revolutionary War Veteran. He served between 1775 -1782. The following is from Rebecca Bilbrey on GENFORUM. "There was also a family that was located on the isle of Mull off the Scottish coast. Family History says that the MacCormicks and Carmacks are the same family. They were a sept of Clan Maclaine. They were involved in several significant Scottish battles over the centuries. The last of which was at Culloden. Several MacCormicks were forced to flee to IRELAND at that point and then onto America. We have records showing the passenger records for their arrival in the US as early as 1681. The MacCormicks orginated in Northern IRELAND and migrated to Iona and on to Mull in the 9th century. They were originally members of a Celtic tribe called the Ghile Loran. This tribe also bred the McDonalds who the Maclaines served during the 10th and 11th century. The name itself means the son of the servant of John. One of the first McCormick's served as a priest on Iona. The old chapel is still standing".
