Picard Surname Guestbook - 2000 Entries

Picard Surname Guestbook

Year 2000 Entires

Here are the entries from the very first year of the Picard Surname Guestbook. These entries, in this newer format, are now included in the FreeFind! search for the Picard Surname Homepage. That should facilitate finding other people looking for similar roots in the 19th and 20th centuries.

I have done very little editing of them, so they remain pretty much as typed by the author. I did "bold" the names given as "oldest known ancestor". I also removed duplicate entries. I have also removed snailmail addresses and phone numbers (they remain in my unedited master copy). I can’t guarantee the email addresses are correct, but they are as typed by the author of the entry.

Authors: If you note something about your entry that you wish corrected, this page is correctable... just let me know (see email address on front page of the Picard Surname Homepage).

The original survey questions, as formated below, were:

[date posted] Your Name: Email Address:
Who are your earliest known Picard, Pecor(e), Destroismaisons, Threehouse ancestors? [in bold]

Hi, As my name is derived from a marriage between William Trepess and Mary Pickard of Warwickshire UK, in 1817, I am currently researching the Pickard line. I would not be surprised if this UK family had it's origins in Picardy and are in some way related to Picard

Catherine PICKARD is my ggggg grandmother. She married Peter EFLAND (EPHLAND, IFFLANDT, EVELAND) about 1740, give or take a few years, in New Jersey. Peter was born in Essex, Sussex County, New Jersey in 1718. Catherine and Peter moved to North Carolina in 1755 with 5 children...and in North Carolina had 2 more....a total of 5 girls and two boys. Their daughter, Mary, is my direct.
I found your site via Larry Noah's Brick Church link... would assume that since there is a site link, there is a family link as well.
That's all the clues I have...Catherine's dob/dod, parents, locations, etc all make up the old "brick wall". Any help would be appreciated. - Tom Wilson

I've just started researching my family line and the earliest we are able to go back so far is Edward Picard and he was married twice and lived in Warwick, Quebec around the turn of the century. He had two sons (half brothers) and a daughter. Ernest Picard, Edmon Picard and the girl's name is unknown. I am a decendant of Ernest's line....if you have any more information, please email me. Thanks!

I am still unclear whether my great-grandfather's name was John Pecor or Joseph Pecor (my name). A page), says his name was Joseph Pecor, confirming a family story that I was named after my great-grandfather and my grandfather. My grandfather was also named Joe. He was the one son of John/Joseph who pursued a career in railroading; the other six were lumbermen. You seem to indicate that his name was Jean Baptist (John); not Joseph. Which is it?

I'm trying to get more information on my family (Picard) but as of now I only have a basic family tree showing who's married to who for 11 generations. My grandfather is Florent Picard married to Therese Morel, his father is Vital Picard married to Bridget Toomey, his father is Bruno Picard married to Catherine Corneau, his father is Francois Picard married to Louise Bouchars, etc, etc, all the back to Atoine Destroismaisons married to Jeanne Lacherer. I got this from my uncle but like I said, it was just a family tree without any personal details like birth dates, death dates, marriage dates, etc. If you have any information that could help me, I would greatly appreciate that. My grandmother was BLANCHE LEOCADIE PICART born 21 May 1878 in Rety (canton de Marquise) Pas-de-Calais, France. She married my grandfather THEOPHILE ALEXANDRE LEBON on August 1, 1901 in Loosen Gohelle, France and they emigrated to the US with their five sons, Volaire Alexandre, Kleber Theophine, Marceau Louis, Marcel Eugene (my dad), and Roger Emile Lebon in May, 1912 after the Titanic sank.
My greatgrandfather was JULES ARMAND PICART born April 14, 1844 in Wirwignes-Boulogne sur mer, France - father unknown - mother Seraphina Picart. I have a copy of his baptismal certificate. It is signed by Geneau Picart (who must be a relative or Seraphina - perhaps her father or brother?). Jules Picart married Louise Augustine Lhomme born May 26, 1845 in Marquise, Boulogne sur mer daughter of Jean Francoise Lhomme and Marie Antoinette Julie Seillier.
Children of Jules Armand Picart and Louise Augustine Lhomme were:
(1) Jules Picart born 1872
(2) Ferdinand Alphonse Picart born March 11, 1874
(3) Louise Picart born 1875
(4) Auguste Picard born 1876
(5) Blanche Leocadie Picart born May 21, 1878
(6) Louis Picart born 1879
Some of Louise's descendants came to the US and lived in Pennsylvania.
Ferdinand Alphonse never married and was shot by the Germans during WWII.
I am the first generation born in the USA. Sincerely, Betty (Lebon) Nance

I would hope that some day in the not too distant future all of the Picard and Pecor decendants could plan some sort of a family reunion, that would be a wonderful get-together! In 1998 my wife and I visited Bazinghen the town where Adrien, the gunmaker [and my ancestor], came from. We were fortunate to have been there when the mayor's office was open because we were shown a map where the hamlet of Troismaisons had been located. It was a short drive away. There is no longer a hamlet or any traces of the three houses. Nonetheless it was a great trip. Bazinghen is a beautiful town, not far from a picturesque coastline. It lies between Calais which is the French end of the chunnel to England, and the ancient city of Boulogne.

Ellen, You have done and continue to do a great job with this very, very, complex line -- we have so many Pecors in Jefferson County which we don't know what to do with. I'll be checking out your database frequently. What a wonderful service you are providing for us Picard-Pecor researchers. Hope someday to find the roots of our Joseph. Keep up the good work, Ellen.

Hi. I also admit my work is lacking in sources. I'll do when I retire. Now I'm just gathering info and visiting sites. My addition is Madeleine Picard daughter of Pierre Rene Picard #110 in your family tree site and Marie Jeanne Alain. Madeleine Married Francois Ruel in Berthier on Jan. 7, 1765. I don't have her date of birth. Their daughter Francoise married into the Bilodeau family of which I have strong relations. My Bilodeau info is from a website. My Picard info is from the familysearch.com data base so I have found a few mistakes I need to correct. I hope I don't loose your website you have plenty of information I do not. Thanks I hope you like my small input. Bob

Actually I like everything about your site. It is well done and informative. I wish you could help me in my pursuit of Pecor/Picard. I can't get back to Canada. If I ever do make some connections I will let you know and share it.

France Picard
