Picard Surname Guestbook

Year 2002 Entires

Here are the entries from the third year of the Picard Surname Guestbook. This was a hectic year, and in the fall, I suddenly went to Germany with my husband (US Army Reserves) and was unable to respond to queries in the Guestbook. These entries, in this newer format, are now included in the FreeFind! search for the Picard Surname Homepage. That should facilitate finding other people looking for similar roots in the 19th and 20th centuries.

I have done very little editing of them, so they remain pretty much as typed by the author. I did "bold" the names given as "oldest known ancestor". I also removed duplicate entries. I have also removed snailmail addresses and phone numbers (they remain in my unedited master copy). I can’t guarantee the email addresses are correct, but they are as typed by the author of the entry.

Authors: If you note something about your entry that you wish corrected, this page is correctable... just let me know (see email address on front page of the Picard Surname Homepage).

The original survey questions, as formated below, were:

[date posted] Your Name: Email Address:
Who are your earliest known Picard, Pecor(e), Destroismaisons, Threehouse ancestors? [in bold]
Do you have Picard information to share with others? [Share?]

I am Peter Pecor's Great Great Great Grandson. My father is Jay Picard, son of Donald Picard, son of Englebert Picard, son of David Pecor, son of Peter Pecor. All of Don's children and grandchildren reside in North Eastern Il, or South Eastern Wi. Many of us still make it to Oconto every so often to visit relatives. This is a very informative site...Keep up the good work!!

Hi, Recently I began researching family roots, I have a lot of information on my paternal side, but I can find very little on my maternal side. My grandfather moved to Woonsocket, R.I from Three Rivers, Quebec and married Diana Moreau of Central Falls RI. They had several children, one of which is my Mom. My grandparents were born in the mid-1880s, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dear Ellen, I emailed Dr. Vander Leest, but perhaps I should be writing to you. My great grandmother was Dephine Pecor Brousseau, born in Belleville Ontario in 1857. Her daughter, Eva Brousseau, was my father's mother. My brothers are the writers Paul, Alexander and Peter Theroux. What I'd like to find out at the moment is: which Wisconsin Pecors came to Belleville about 1840, i.e., who are Dephine's parents. Her death cert. does not have that info. The Great Lakes Region Family's website suggests Delphine's parents were Peter or Marshall. Any ideas? Aloha, Joseph Theroux, Hilo, Hawaii

This may sound strange, but my maiden name is "Garman" and I married a Picard 13 years ago, I never knew they were related way back in the 1600's! What is really interesting is that This is my second marriage, my first marriage was to a Gaudette, come to find out that Gaudette's were married to Picard's in the 1800's. My husband teases my boys [from gaudette marriage, and tells them he isn't their stepdad, he's their "cousin!" If there is such thing as "past life" relationships...

Ellen, Didn't keep track of how I got to your website but happy that I found it. Great details. I am descent from Charles Langlier and Francois through son Louis and his son Joseph who married Elizabeth Billeron. I have gotten most of my information from Tanguay and Jette. My ancestors went to Kaskaskai, Il and then jumped the river to Ste Genevieve, MO. about 1729. I have information from the Church at Ste. G. I can provide information on my line if you would like. It won't be detailed like yours. Can email you pedigree charts. Looking forward to hearing from you, Harry Lazarus, Shreveport, LA

As an researcher I thank you for the information you have provided. I am unable to go beyond John Picard my Great Great Gandfother with any certainty. I am the Grandson of Elmer Pecor, Great Grandson of David Pecor. Any possibility that you can guide me further back. I have gathered much information on the Destroismaisons in hopes of coming forward but that turned into a difficult task. If you know anything of the Oconto Pecors O would greatly appreciate any information you could supply. Thank You!

I haven't researched much about Picards. My grandfather, Harmidas Picard, who died when my father William was young, is as far back as I know. He was born in Three Rivers in Canada (not sure where that is?) I believe he somehow got to Masschusetts. He was in the Army and was in France during WWI. That is where he met and married my grandmother, Marie Rose Dubreuil. My father was born in Bourdeaux, April 6, 1920. They were sent to Germany and then came back to Holyoke, Mass., in 1921 or 1922. I'd like to find out more....

This is a good site. My father was Raymond Picard. Mother was Annie (Lacharite) Picard. My grandfather was Henry, but he passed away around 1936. I was born 1939. The only thing I know about him, he had relatives in Taunton MA and Fall River. He had a reletive Gilbert Picard that ran a clothes cleaning business in Taunton. My father had 2 sisters, Rose & Lillian. My father Raymond was born in New Bedford, MA Jan. 1910. Married Blanche Lortie, June 1937. I have sisters that are triplets, Born June 1938. We grew up in E. Taunton MA. I seem to get nowhere when I search for my fathers SS records. Thanks for having this space to send my info that I have.

I was quite pleased to discover your site Ellen. I'm not sure where my own line fits in with the whole thing but I do have an uncle that has researched it quite a bit. I'm sure he'll be fascinated with all the information. Off the top of my head, all I can recall is that my grandparents were Clarence and Mrytle Picard. Clarence was born (late 1800's or early 1900's I believe) in Crystal Falls, MI and moved to Wisconsin as a teenager. He had two sons and a daughter. The children are named Philip (my father), Gene and Collette. All of the children live in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. Thanks much, Jeffrey P. Picard

Hi Ellen, I believe that we were in touch a couple of years ago. But you had no connections at that time. I have just recently been in contact with Bill Flem at Quebec research - L rootsweb.com He found the marriage date of my G. Father at Caughnawaga ) and the bride was Virginie Cherrier and parents of the Bride was Leon Cherrier & Florence Viau and Jacob's mother was Elisabeth Roy. I don't imagine you would have any connection here ? Sorry I missed the big reunion last fall. Had good plans that fell through. Cheers Ted

Dear Ellen: Wow!!! I have just started investigating my ancestry this past week on the Lefebvre, Gervais, Vallee side and discovered that Michelle Picard is a direct descendant on the Lefebvre side. Her daughter Marie-Anne married Noel Lefebvre who was my grandfather's (Osias Lefebvre, born Sept. 1, 1889) ggggrandfather. I am very new at this (genealogy) and hope to find more about my lineage particularly on the Vallee side of the family - Lydia Vallee, born March 25, 1868 in St. Timothee parish is where I am stuck for now. Your web site is FANTASTIC! Hope to hear from you soon, if you have any tips to offer me I would appreciate it. Sincerely, Lynda from Ontario
