Robert desForges dit Picard

During a search of Programme de recherche en démographie historique (PRDH), I found information on Robert desForges dit Picard in the PRDH Pioneer files. There is also a Jean Baptiste desForges dit St. Maurice at the PRDH site, but he arrived before 1689, and was from the Perigord region. Since then, I have been contacted by several descendents from whom most of this data comes from. At the bottom of this page are a couple of "unconnected" desForges: Alex and Lizzie.

-1. Nicolas^-1 desForges died. He married Marie LeMoyne or LeMoine. She died.

Notes for Nicolas desForges:
I have this note of interest from a descendent of desForges: "There is a rumor passed down from my great-aunt Desforges about the Desforges once having influence and a coat-of-arms. I have found only one notable Desforges family in the Picardie region in France, but am in the middle of research. Briefly, the family is called the Des Forge de Caulieres, and were the counts of Caulieres in the 1500's and 1600's. Their coat-of-arms description (if you're familiar with the arts of heraldry) are "de Gules a Sept Cotices d'Argent", which basically is a red shield with seven thinly-sized silver stripes going from top left to lower right. Following Nicolas Desforges back using parish registers would shed light upon this."

"At the age of 17, Robert enlisted (in France) in the French Army, Reine regiment, Dalmaz company, and in 1757 was stationed in Québec (entering in November of that year) to defend it against British attacks during the French and Indian War of 1756-1763. He was the drummer of his regiement, and two months after his entry (on Jan 18, 1758), he obtained permission and posted his marriage bans, and was married to Marie, daughter of Jean-Baptiste Malboeuf and Marie Madeleine Simard on the above date and place. Robert and Marie had 13 known children, many of whom died as children."

Joseph's children did not use the Picard dit name. According to one descendent, Catherine Beaunoyer is actually this Joseph's second wife, and his first wife was named Emélie Commeau. Also, that he was son of Blaise Benjamin instead. (my NOTE: See Joseph, son of Blaise Benjamin. Were these two different Josephs or not?)

Alex may have married twice before his death at 94 or 95 years of age at Lancaster, New Hampshire. The sons were Israel, Peter, Edward, Walter?, and the daughters were Millie, Mary. There may have been other children.

Lizzie desForges died at St. Albans on March 07, 1871 and Lawrence (Laurence) LaPan who died in Rutland, VT on Oct 25, 1905. The death record from the Vermont Vital Records for Lizzie lists her parents as Louis Laforge and Mary. (my NOTE: is this Louis desForges dit Picard and Martiale Elisabeth Donat dit LaVerdure?)
