Canadian

The Canadian department of the Pinkerton agency produced this badge in both a large and small version. These badges are completely silver coloured with the words "PINKERTON" and "CANADA". On either side of the badge number at the bottom are Canadian maple leaves. Under the old style shield are the words "POST NUBILA SOL", latin for "After the darkness, light".
Both the breast badge (large) and hat badge (small) are shown. The breast badge has a pin back and the hat badge has a screw back.

This appears to be a prototype of the above badge. The colour is different (brass coloured) and the number appears to be a salesman's sample.

These old looking badges are gold coloured with the words "PINKERTON NATIONAL DETECTIVE AGENT" in raised letters. It also has the eye logo at the top and the words "WE NEVER SLEEP".

Hats and Hat Badges

This hat badge is gold coloured with the word "PINKERTON". On the back is the number "153". Note the screw mount on the rear for attachment to a hat. This apparently was for a detective, but I'm not sure. This example either does not have the old style shield on the front, or it is worn off.
Note also that the eagle at the top is slightly different than the examples below.

This appears to be an older style badge. It has the words "PINKERTON" and "SPECIAL SERVICE" with the badge number in raised letters.

This is a gold coloured Special Service badge. It has the words "PINKERTON", "SPECIAL SERVICE" and badge number "8645".

This is a movie prop badge from the Ellis Prop Company. Ellis was the oldest prop company in Hollywood, founded in 1907 and supplied props to the movie industry until 1999.
