I was born & raised in Dallas County, TX. I attended Mesquite Schools & graduated from North Mesquite High School in 1987. My hobbies are reading, computers & genealogy. I have worked in many capacities since I left my childhood home in Mesquite as a secretary, school bus driver, railyard driver, airport shuttle driver, cashier & graphic artist for a small print shop. My work at the print shop lead to my love of graphics work & my desire to attend school at ITT Tech-Richardson. I am a life member of the National Technical Honor Society & graduated from ITT Tech-Richardson with Highest Honors in September 2006.
As of April 2007, I am an undergraduate pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Interactive Media Design at The Art Institute of Dallas. I currently work as a Multimedia Intern/Video Editor for a wedding/event videographer & DJ maintaining websites, creating graphics & editing both film & audio.
Why I chose this Project
I chose to do this cemetery website for my school Capstone project because of my love of history & passion for genealogy. As a native Dallasite, I wanted to learn more about my hometown's history & do something to preserve a small part of it. To me, the Dallas Library is one of the hottest places in town & due to the close proximity of the cemetery to the library, I would enjoy wandering through it on my way to & from the DART Convention Center Rail Station. Each person has a special place in history & should not be forgotten. Time has its own way of obliterating the past unless someone takes the time to preserve it. I enjoyed not only the research involved to put this project together, but learning more about the people who may be gone in body, but left a legacy for us to strive toward.
