(John Jay Good was born in MS & came to Dallas in 1851 to practice law. He was married to Susan Anna Floyd on 7/27/1854. With Judge James M. Patterson & WilliamWallace Peak, he helped to design the Dallas County Courthouse built in 1855. He organized & was Col. of an Artillery Regiment for the Confederate Army. He was elected Judge of the 16 th District Court in 1866 & was elected Mayor of Dallas in Sept 1880. He was the founder of Odd Fellow Lodge #44, according to the Dallas Herald, 9/21/1882 issue. Good Street was named for him.)
