Col. Barton Warren Stone
6th Texas Cavalry
11/5/1817-2/26/1881
(foot marker with the initials “B. W. S.” Illegible headstone-data taken from Mar 1985 plat map.)

(Colonel Barton Warren Stone owned some of the land on which the cemetery stands. Together with his father & Alexander Campbell, he helped to found the religion known as the "Disciples of Christ" or "Campbellites" which became the largest indiginous religious movements in US History, having even more members than even the Mormons. On July 12th & 13th, 1852, he ramrodded a committee of Dallas citizens representing Dallas County in seizing the records of Henry Oliver Hedgecoxe, Peters Colony representative, who was found to be guilty of land claim fraud & corruption.)
