Breaks Interstate ParkThe Breaks is an interstate park that spans an area from Kentucky into Dickenson County Virginia. There is a paved road leading from route 80 into the park. It is located near Haysi. The park overlooks a deep gorge. The gorge was cut by the Russell Fork of the Big Sandy River through the mountain. There are many nature trails that give good vantage points for viewing the scenery. Fishing, boating, camping, picnicking, hiking and swimming are available at the park. It offers a lodge, cabins and food services.

Coal Miners' Memorial This memorial is located in Clinchco, Virginia on Route 83. It lists all the coal miners from Dickenson County who have died in mining accidents.

John Flannigan Dam The John Flannigan Dam is located near Haysi. There is a park with picnicking and hiking available.

Jefferson National Forest Parts of this forest can be reached by traveling south from Clintwood on Route 23. The actual forest runs from northern Virginia to Big Stone Gap. Hiking, picnicking, boating and fishing are available.

Southwest Virginia Museum This is a four story mansion built in the 1880's. The museum shows what early life in Southwest Virginia was like. One floor is devoted to the coal industry. Other floors show pioneer implements and tools , as well as household items and clothing. It is located in Big Stone Gap, Wise County, Virginia.

Coal Museum This museum is also located in Big Stone Gap. It has displays of the coal mining industry.

Natural Tunnel State Park This natural tunnel was carved through the mountain by a creek. It has a chair lift or nature trails that descend to the tunnel. There is also a trail that leads above the tunnel. The park has a small visitor's center which shows various railroad items. The park also features swimming, camping, hiking and picnicking. It is located in Duffield in Scott County, Virginia.
