"ERNEST (ERNIE) THOMAS
Brother of Florence Thomas.Born about 1892.Left England in 1912 (aged 19-21 at the time) & emmigrated to Australia.Joined the Australian Army in WW1.From Australia,he was posted to France.Wounded in the Dardenelles & sent back to Australia to hospital.He married a nurse (Anne?) & lived in Victoria.He was given a Soldier's Settlement Block.After the war,Ernest wrote to his mother & her sent a parcel of dried fruit every Christmas.His mother received money from the Australian Government (not known why).Ernest kept in touch with a brother-in-law in Jersey,England, who died some time after 1975.
Photograph was taken in Birmingham when he came home on leave from France."
