Sir Thomas Dunlop, 1st Bt. was born on 2 August 1855. He was the son of Thomas Dunlop and Robina Jack . He married, firstly, Dorothy Euphemia Mitchell , daughter of Peter Mitchell , on 12 June 1879. He married, secondly, Margaret Mitchell, daughter of Peter Mitchell , on 19 October 1893. He died on 29 January 1938 at age 82. He was a director of the Royal Bank Scotland, Bruce Peebles Ltd and Scottish Union and National Insurance Company. He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Glasgow University, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland . He held the office of Lord Provost of Glasgow. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lanarkshire. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Renfrewshire. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Glasgow. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Glasgow. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow between 1914 and 1917. He was created 1st Baronet Dunlop, of Woodborune, co. Renfrew [U.K.] on 6 July 1916. He was decorated with the award of the Order of St. Sava of Serbia (4th Class). He was decorated with the award of the Order of the Crown of Belgium. He was decorated with the award of the Medaille du Roi Albert. He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1918. He was decorated with the award of the Russian Red Cross. He was senior partner of Thomas Dunlop and Sons.
