Following a two week’s illness, Richard Gallagher, 1735 Perry Avenue, an engineer for the Hudson Coal Company at the Leggett’s Creek Colliery for a number of years, died yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock at his home. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and its Holy Name Society. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Charles Collins [Beth], Wilkes Barre; Mrs. Joseph Langan [Lena], Mrs. Laurence McHale [Alice], and Mrs. William Barrett [Mary], this city; one brother, Patrick, Scranton, and twenty-one grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning with a requiem mass in Holy Rosary Church at 9:30 o’clock. Interment will be in the Cathedral Cemetery.

Richard Gallagher Laid at Rest in Cathedral Cemetery
Scores of relatives and friends were present this morning at the funeral of Richard Gallagher, held from the family home, 1735 Perry Avenue. A high requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. William Lynch in Holy Rosary Church at 9:30 o’clock. Rev. William J. Ward was deacon and Rev. Edward P. Nolan subdeacon. Mrs. Catherine Ruane was the soloist. The children’s choir sang the response of the mass, with Miss Mary Louise Devers at the organ. George Gallagher was a flower bearer and the following grandsons of Mr. Gallagher served as casket-bearers: Francis and Thomas Gallagher, Thomas McHale, Charles Collins and Paul and William Barrett. Interment was in the Cathedral Cemetery, where Father Lynch conducted committal services.
