From Porges "MF
recognized that he should become a producer of alcohol in
southern
Bohemia and, with his three abovementioned sons, established a
refinery in Miskowitz in 1840, thus creating the first such
independent
undertaking in the whole of Bohemia."
From
Porges:"Shortly before the installation of this new equipment
(i.e end of
the 1840s) MF had died, suddenly, whilst taking the
cure at Karlsbad. He was
buried in the nearest Jewish cemetery at
Koenigswarth near Marienbad.
His three sons, Samuel, Josef
and David formed the company of MFS. The eldest,
Samuel, took on
the leadership; he was an able and energetic man who, like his
father before him, conducted the business in a 'solid' and
careful manner,
making many friends along the way. He was
originally destined for the rabbinate
and had studied at the
college in Nikolsburg in Moravia. He was a very well
educated man
for his time and, besides managing the company, devoted himself
widely to public and humanitarian causes in a most exemplary
manner.
In the meantime the company's activities had
multiplied to the degree that the
brothers decided to
decentralize. Samuel Fischl and his wife Anna (nee Popper)
and
their little daughter Sophie (later wife to Dr Braun) moved to Prague
in
the early 1850s, where he rented both home and office in the
Teinhof.
His brother Josef Fischl, who had married his cousin
Rosalia Fischl, and the
father of the future head (CEO?) of the
firm, Siegmund Fischl, remained as head
of the business in
Miskowitz; whilst the youngest, David Fischl, moved to
Vienna
where he married Miss Rosa Bruh (?) and became the father of future
partner in the company, Emanuel Fischl, there to oversee the sale
of the
product of the Miskowitz refinery as well as undertake the
bulk handling of raw
alcohol on the Vienna market. For the latter
purpose premises were rented in
the cellars of Vienna's
Nordbahnhof around 1850.
Meanwhile in Prague Samuel Fischl
acquired the so-called Wagner House in the
Tuchmacherstrasse, in
1852 and converted it into a refinery."
"The
factory at Miskowitz was abandoned in 1880. "

Resolution:
The Claimant stated that her grandmother lived at
Argentinierstrasse 36 in
Vienna, Austria, and also owned a
country house in Einsiedeleigasse 26 in
Vienna. The Claimant
identified her grandmother as a businesswoman who traded
handbags
and craft items. According to the Claimant, her grandmother was
Jewish
and was "extremely wealthy," and the Nazis
confiscated her assets and forced
her to pay considerable
"taxes," including an emigration tax. The Claimant
stated
that her grandmother emigrated to the United States in early 1939,
and
she died there in 1951.

From Porges: A nephew of the founder of the
company (i.e Markus Fischl),
Wilhelm Kanturek, opened a depot in
the town of Linz (in Upper Austria).
"Above all I must
name the previously mentioned Wilhelm Kanturek, manager of
the
former depot in Linz. Kanturek was energetic though temperamental by
nature, which appears to have spoiled his relations with the
partners Samuel,
Josef and David Fischl. In his day Kanturek had
acquired the (Poetsch) mill
near Boehm(isch)-Krumau, and had
great plans for it, although the then partners
showed no interest
in these at all, apparently because they did not tackle
matters
that were beyond them. The (Potz) mill was eventually sold to the
son-in-law of the firm's founder, the paper maker Ignatz Spiro,
formerly of
Roth-Racic. Due to the efforts of Ignatz Spiro and
his sons, the mill
ultimately grew into an international player
in the paper industry."
http://www.unterirdisch-forum.de/forum/showthread.php?t=8053
1898 gr?deten die Linzer Kaufleute Friedrich Tscherne und Wilhelm
Kanturek die
Dr?inger Petroleumraffinerie,deren Fabrikanlagen auf
einem Areal von rund
42.000 m2 unmittelbar neben der Bahnanlage
der Kaiser-Ferdinands Nordbahn
errichtet wurde.
