Kate (Jan 2008): From marriage of children, first partner was a station
master.Prior to going to France though - somewhere between 1867 and 1871 -
Harriet had at least one other child. She had a son called Charles James in
1866 and he died from malnutrition (marasmus) later that same year. Her father
also died in Kensington Workhouse that same year.

As for what the family did in France, apparently they also made Normandy lace.
My grandma had an ivory bobbin from silk making and apparently Harriet/Rosina's
house in Mile End (Longfellow Road) was full of lace items.

We were always told too that they ran a hotel (/cafe) in which Captain Matthew
Webb stayed after he swam the channel. It became a bit of a tourist spot after
that but then there was a fire/burglary/something and they lost their money.
The women came back to England and the men stayed in France.
