Born May 27, 1926 in Schoenlanke, Germany, Herman came to San Francisco alone
at the age of 13 and spent the remainder of his childhood at the Homewood
Terrace orphanage. He resided in San Francisco for the rest of his life. Most
recently, he lived at the Jewish Home until passing away onMay 16, 2001.

He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia, whom he met at a
performance of the San Francisco Opera. Herman was the devoted and generous
father of Paul, Roger, Stanley, Barbara, and Rita, and was a caring
father-in-law to Rachel Grilley and Denise Gutierrez. He was a loving Pa to
Cassandra and Jacob. He is survived by many dear friends, especially Gemma
Grilley and Diane Price. He is sorely missed by his children, especially his
son Roger, to whom he was a best friend and constant companion, as well as a
wonderful father.

Herman received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1952 from Golden Gate
University. He was an exceptional CPA, licensed in NV, HI, UT, and NM, as well
as California. He maintained his CPA license until his death and was a member
of the AICPA and CSCPA. He loved his work and only retired when forced to for
health reasons.
He was a life-long opera and classical music enthusiast and was a volunteer
usher at the San Francisco Opera House for many years. He was especially fond
of the operas of Verdi. He was a dedicated supporter of the Stern Grove
concerts and the Young People's Teen Musical Theatre Company, and he was quite
proud of his children's many musical pursuits. Music was a very important part
of his life.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 10am on Monday,
May 21, 2001, at the Golden Gate National Cemetery Chapel in San Bruno. The
family would prefer that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jewish
Home, 302 Silver Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94112.
