My 2nd-great-grandmother, Ann Quinn Barrett (widow of William) moved to Milwaukee from Cedarburg (Ozaukee County) sometime between 1880 and 1889. Her surviving children -- John, Julia, William, Elizabeth, Jeremiah, and Mary -- also moved to Milwaukee during this period. If the family moved together, the move must have taken place between 1882, when John Barrett married Sarah Scott in Cedarburg, and 1884, when Elizabeth Barrett married Robert Owens in Milwaukee.
My great-grandparents, Jeremiah Barrett and Elizabeth Reilly, were married in this city in 1891, and lived the rest of their lives here. All of their children were born in Milwaukee, and three died here -- an unknown child, Sylvester (1899) and Annetta (1911). After Elizabeth's death in 1911, the children went to separate homes, and only Bill and Ray remained in Milwaukee. Later, Jerry, Bill, and Frances all lived in Sheboygan County, and Laura in Dodge County. Ray lived in San Francisco.

Jeremiah and Elizabeth Barrett and their eldest daughter, Annetta, all died of tuberculosis. Sixteen months after Jerry's death, and six and a half months before her own, Elizabeth found it necessary to place her four younger children in orphan asylums in Milwaukee. On 27 September 1910, Bill and Ray were placed at St. Aemilian's Orphan Asylum, and Laura and Frances were placed at St. Rose's Orphan Asylum.
Members of the Barrett Family were members of Holy Rosary Church. Baptisms are documented there for children of John and Sarah Barrett and Jerry and Elizabeth Barrett. Some members of the family were members of St. Robert's Church, where the funerals of Julia Clifford (1925), William Henry Barrett (1930), and Mary Dowling (1937) were held.
Elizabeth Reilly Barrett died 8 April 1911 at Milwaukee County General Hospital.
Members of the Barrett family usually used S. F. Peacock & Son funeral home.
Members of the Barrett family were buried at Calvary Cemetery and Holy Cross Cemetery.
