Manning Cemetery
Survey by Cannon Pritchard, October 2003


Location:  At the intersection of U. S. Highway 190 and FM 350, go north on FM 350 for 9.5 miles;
        Turn left on FM 3152 and go 2 miles. On the right is a dirt road on private property owned by
        a lumber company with a locked chain across the road. The cemetery is located one mile down
        this road on the left side behind several trees at the edge of the road.

Manning,  Rebecca  born:  July 17, 1793  died:  Oct. 17, 1898, "105 yrs. & 3 mos"
        (nickname: "Mollie",  wife of  Drury Manning)
Manning, Richard Stafford,  born:  Feb. 3, 1866  died: July 5, 1882,
        "age 16 yrs, 5 mo., 2 days,  son of John & Mary A. "Mollie" Manning
         Weep not friends & relatives for me for I am waiting in Glory for thee"

Unmarked Graves
    Most of this cemetery was destroyed by the harvesting of trees in the 1940's when the land
around the cemetery was purchased by a lumber company. The following names are those who
are buried without markers. The list is based on records from Polk County Records and the
Census Records.

Manning, Drury,  born: 1790 Montgomery Co. Ga.  died: July 18, 1849,
        husband of Rebecca Manning.
Manning, Eliza Jane Calliham,  born: July 6, 1831 St. Landry's Parish, La.  died:1887,
        wife of James Austin Manning.
Manning, James Austin, Jr.,  born: 1851   died: 1852,
        son of James A. Manning & Eliza J. Calliham Manning.
Manning, Letitia,  born: Oct. 1852   died: prior to 1870,
        daughter of James A. Manning & Eliza C. Manning.
Manning, Sam Houson,  born: 1883  died: prior to 1900,
        son of  Murdock D. Manning & Mary A. Reid Manning.
Manning, Sarah,  born: 1872   died: 1879,
        daughter of John Milton Manning & Mary A. Buller Manning.
Manning, Un-named Infant,  born: 1897   died:. 1897,
        son of John P. Manning, Sr. & Angie Rowe Manning.
Manning,  William E.,  born: July 1894,  died: prior to 1910,
        son of Franklin James Manning & Sallie B. Stockton Manning.
White, Araminta Manning,  born: 1828 Catahoula Parish, La.  died: August, 1849,
        wife of J. B. White and Mother of James M. White.
White, J. B.,  died: 1849, husband of Araminta Manning White and Father of James M. White.
