POLK COUNTY ENTERPRISE, 21ST SEPTEMBER 1916

A.P. RENFRO SHOT BY J.W. MOORE THURSDAY

     Last Thursday morning in a shooting scrape between A. P. Renfro and J. W. Moore, which occurred near Goodrich, Texas, Mr Renfro was seriously injured by a bullet taking effect in his stomach and which caused his death on Friday night. It is stated that the trouble grew out of the killing of a dog which was owned by Mr. Moore. Mr Moore was arrested Thursday and placed under a $300.00 bond, and charged with assault to murder. After the death of Mr.Renfro on Friday night, Mr Moore was rearrested and at an examining trial held at Livingston, Texas, Saturday morning, he was placed under a $500.00 bond to await the action of the Grand Jury. The body of Mr. Renfro was shipped to Lufkin, Texas Saturday morning, his former home for interment.
