A. B. Garvey Is Claimed by Death
Well Known Livingston Man Dies After Brief Illness
     "A. B. Garvey, a life long resident of Polk County, died at his home in Livingston Wednesday morning following a brief illness.
     Mr. Garvey has been in poor health for several months, and suffered from a heart ailment. However his condition did not become serious until about three weeks ago, when the doctor instructed him to remain in bed.
     Funeral services have been announced for 2 o'clock on Thursday, February 4 at the residence, with the Masonic Lodge in charge at the grave.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
     Mr. Garvey was born June 12,1870, near Elwood.  He was a member of the Methodist Church, and served as superintenent of the Sunday School, and was chairman of the board of stewards for many years.
    He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Woodmen of the World.
    Mr. Garvey had been engaged in the abstract business in Livingston since 1923.  Before that time he was a farmer and surveyor.  He was chairman of the draft board in World War I, and served as president of the school board for a number of years.  He was also a member of the city council several years ago.
     Survivors are his wife' four daughters, Mrs. H. R. Lively, and Mrs. M. S. Jackson of Houston, Mrs. Ray Brock and Mrs. J. M. Hooks of Livingston; one son, O. C. Garvey of Houston; and one sister, Mrs Allie Bean of Livingston, Also nine grandchildren and one great grand child."
