Life Long Resident Passes Away At Family Residence      "Funeral services for John Solomon Gay were held Thursday morning from the Holly Grove Church with Bro. Richard Colina officiating.
     Interment followed in Holly Grove Cemetery.
     Mr. Gay was born in Polk County and passed away in the family residence on Tuesday, July 17, 1951, after a brief illness. Mr Gay was a life-long resident of Polk County and was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
     He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virgie Pear Gay, parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Gay, two daughters, Mrs Elphia Williams of Highlands, Texas and Mrs. Trudie Weeks of Beaumont, Texas, three sons, Bronson Gay of Beaumont, Hester Gay of Houston and Raymond Gay of Rio Grande City, Texas. Six brothers, Roy, Willie, Ben, Jimmie, Lewis, and Urias, one sister, Mrs. Alma Underwood and five grandchildren.
     Pallbearers were his nephews: Ellery Jones, Billy Kervin, Ton Gay, Perry Richardson, Jack Richardson, and Brady White."
