Mrs. M. Shotwell, Native of Livingston Dies In Houston

    "Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Hill Shotwell, sister of Mrs. Elizabeth Hill Tillman and J. E. Hill of  Livingston and S.F. Hill of Houston, were held in the drawing room of George H. Lewis and Sons of Houston, May 5th.  Rev. Charles Smith, pastor of St. Paul's Cathedral, of which Mrs. Shotwell was a charter member, was assisted by Bishop Clinton S. Quinn, in officiating at the funeral services.  Mrs. Shotwell was laid to rest in the Forest Park cemetery by the side of her late husband, Mr W.I. Shotwell who preceeded her in death in 1947.
    "Mrs. Shotwell, the daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. James E. Hill had lived in Houston for the past 51 years.  She died at 3:55 a.m. at her home on May 4th, following a prolonged illness.  She was born and reared in Livingston, where she lived until her marriage.  She attended Ward Seminary in Nashville, Tenn., where she majored in art.  Among her many paintings, the most treasured by her loved ones is "Ruth and Naomi".  Through the last years of her life she was a State officer in the W.C.T.U.
    "The many beautiful floral arrangements attested the friendships culminated through the years.
    "Survivors include a son, William I. Shotwell Jr., of California; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Rawls, of Houston; three grandsons, one grandaughter, one great-grandson and one great-grandaughter.
    "Pallbearers for Mrs. Shotwell were her nephews."
