FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR  MRS. J. H. GULLEY
    "Funeral services for Mrs. J. H. Gulley who died at 3 p.m. Sunday at Leggett after a brief illness, were held at Hortense Monday afternoon. Rev. W. B. Wadsworth of the First Baptist church in Livingston and Rev W. E. Crenshaw of the Leggett Baptist church officiated.  Burial was in the Feagin cemetery at Hortense.
    "Had Mrs. Gulley lived until the tenth of this month she would have been 76 years of age. She had lived in Polk county for about 45 years.She was a member of the Baptist church of Leggett.
    "She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. J. T. McKee of Livingston, Mrs. Callie McKee of Houston, Mrs. Albert Harrison of Lufkin, Mrs. Sam Albert Harrison of Lufkin, Mrs. Sam Hooks, Mrs. Stevie Clark and Mrs. Vaughn Taylor, all of Leggett; two sons Joe Gulley of Hortense and Alonzo Gulley of Lufkin. Surviving also are a number of grandchildren. Her husband died almost four years ago."

    Leggett-"Funeral service for Mrs. J. H. Gulley, 77, who died at her daughter's home here, where she had been living for several years, were held by Elder W. E. Crenshaw pastor of the First Baptist Church of Leggett, at the Feagin Cemetery near Hortense.  She leaves two sons, J. O. of Hortense and Lonzo of New Willard and five daughters, Mrs. J. T. McKee of Livingston, Mrs. Harrison of Lufkin, Mrs. J. B. Taylor, Mrs. Grover Clark and Mrs. Sam Cook, all of Leggett. "

Note:  Martha Jane Gulley was born in 1854, died in 1930 - per headstone.
