Uriah Ellis White Buried In Oates Cemetery, Mon.
"Funeral services for Uriah Ellis White were
held at the Pace Funeral Home on Monday, November 27th, at 2 pm with Dr.
W. B. Wadsworth, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment followed in the Oates Cemetery near Leggett, with grave side
rites by Hales-Sellars Post of the American Legion.
"Mr. White was born in Leggett, Texas,
on August 14, 1891, and died in Whittier, California, on November 17, 1950.
Mr. White served in the Navy from 1911 to 1913, and was a World War I Veteran,
having served in the Army from 1917 to 1919.
"He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John
Ellis Chance of Mattoon, Ill., and one grandson; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie
Little of Livingston, Mrs. Dell Clark of Lovelady, and Mrs. Fannye Zimmerman
of Highlands, Texas; five brothers, Sam, Wash and Bob all of Livingston;
Buck of Camden, and H. M. of Fort Worth; a number of nieces and nephews.
Mother and Father, three sisters and two brothers preceeded him in death.
"Pallbears were: Waymon Little, Tom Salter,
Brady White, A. Crowson, Paul Matthews and W. D. Chance."
