On February 12, 1943, Lora Belle Miller, daughter
of R.E. and Thelma Miller of Ace, died of appendicitis. During the
next few days, as word spread of the loss of the Millers' oldest daughter,
many relatives, friends and neighbors from the southern part of Polk County,
as well as Liberty and San Jacinto Counties came to pay their respects.
