FACTS: Elizabeth Price married William Lovins
on May 24, 1871 in Lawrence County. This marriage is also varified
in a 1963 letter from Emmarita Tincher on our family history.
Elizabeth is then found in the 1880 census Lawrence County,
with William Stevens, children Mary Jane (b. 1863) James
W (b. 1865) Hannah (b 1876), Ransom (b.1878, and Lurinda (b.1880).
Elizabeth Price (wife of Richard is listed with them as mother
in law. widow.
The 1870 census shows Elizabeth still living with father
Richard, age 24. which tells me that the first two children were
most likely children of William Stevens previous marriage.
Elizabeth is then found in Whitley Co. KY again with William
Lovins in the 1910 miracode census with children Ransom
(now age 32) and Lurinda (age 30).
William Lovins died on Jan 30, 1911 at Whitley Co.
KY. age 84. vol 7 cert. 2714
Any information?
UPDATE 1/20/03 [email protected]
I have located William Lovins in the 1870 Lawrence County
Census as follows:
92-92 LOVINS, William 42 M W Blacksmith KY
Joshua 12 M W Attending School VA
Mary J 8 F W Attending School KY
William 5 M W OH
Simular information :both Lovins and Stevens are BLACKSMITHS,
and the same age. The 2 younger children are the same age. same
names Mary Jane and James W, (prob for William). Lovins does
not show a wife in this census.
MY THEORY: The 1880 Census name of Stevens is wrong ( to error
is human.) I beleive this is William Lovins family and the census
taker or transcriber wrote down the wrong name. There is no other
information found anywhere for William Stevens. in prior census,
marriage records etc.
