Note: wikipedia; Adolf Jellinek (Hebrew: אהרן ילינק Aharon Jelinek, Jun 26, 1821, Drslavice, nearby Uherské Hradiště, Moravia - Dec 28, 1893 Vienna) was an Austrian rabbi and scholar. After filling clerical posts in Leipzig (1845–1856), he became a preacher at the Leopoldstädter Tempel in Vienna in 1856. He was associated with the promoters of the New Learning within Judaism, and wrote on the history of the Kabbalah in the tradition of Western scholarship. Jellinek is also known for his work in German on Abraham ben Samuel Abulafia, one of the earliest students of Kabbalah who was born in Spain in 1240.. His wife was Rosalie Bettelheim (1832 Budapest - 1892 in Baden bei Wien). His eldest son, Georg Jellinek, Max Hermann Jellinek (1868-1938), Emil Jellinek (1853-1918). A brothers of Adolf; Hermann Jellinek (1823 - ), Moritz Jellinek (1823-1883)... see Jewish Encyclopedia, vii.92-94. For a character sketch of Adolf Jellinek see S. Note: wikipedia; ..Emil, wealthy businessman on the French Riviera, and later on the Austrian consul in Monaco, who used his daughter's name Mercedes as a pseudonym when practising his racing hobby. His business association with Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft became so intense that the new model he ordered was named the Mercedes car, and in 1903 Emil Jellinek himself was permitted to change his name to Jellinek-Mercedes - "probably the first time ever that a father bears the name of his daughter", was his comment. Emil was a wealthy European entrepreneur who sat on the board of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft ('DMG') 1900-1909. He specified an engine designed there by Wilhelm Maybach and Gottlieb Daimler for the first 'modern' car. Jellinek required naming the engine after his daughter, Mercedes Jellinek. The Mercedes 35hp model later contributed to the brand name developed in 1926, Mercedes-Benz, when DMG and Benz & Cie. merged into what is now among the largest car brands in the world.. ref. myautoworld

Died: 1957 *geni-more
Note: wikipedia: Adriana Manuela Ramona Jellinek, called Mercédès (Sep 16, 1889 - Fe 23, 1929) was the daughter of Austrian automobile entrepreneur Emil Jellinek and his wife Rachel Goggmann Cenrobert. She was born in Vienna on September 16, 1889 and known as Mercédès as a term of endearment. She is best known for her father having Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft's line of Mercedes cars named after her, beginning with the Mercedes 35 hp model of 1901. Also, at the 1902 Paris Automobile exhibition, her father hung a large picture of her. Mercédès lived in Vienna, and was notorious for marrying twice scandalously. She had a magnificent wedding in Nice, on the Cote d'Azur, with baron von Schlosser. The couple lived in Vienna until World War I, which ruined them. In 1918, Mercédès was begging for food in the streets. A little later, leaving her husband and her two children, she married baron Rudolf von Weigl, a talented but poor sculptor. She played music and had a good soprano voice, but never shared her father's passion for automobiles. She died in Vienna from bone cancer in 1929, at the age of 39, and was buried in Vienna in the familial grave near her grandfather the former chief rabbi of Vienna, Adolf Jellinek. In 1926 the Daimler company merged with the Benz company. Although the company traded as Daimler-Benz it gave the name Mercedes-Benz to its cars to preserve the respected Mercedes marque.
