The Lost Proudfits

Relative's   Name

  Known Inforamtion

James K. Proudfit

My step-mother's first husband was Howard J. Miller. His grandmother's name was Isabelle Proudfit, daughter of General James K. Proudfit.

Andrew/David/William/John B/Sarah Elizabeth P. Wilson

Sarah's daughter was Louissa/Lorena

Ellen Murray Howard/Henry Edmunds

My husband is Henrys great grandson by his first marriage to Annie Wayman. She died giving birth to his grandfather and his twin sister Dorrie.
Henry married Ellen on 7/Sept/1883,(I think your date is wrong ),and she gave birth to their son Howard Maurice Edmunds in 1883(not sure of date yet).
Ellen returned to Rhode Island where she died,22/May 1928 months after Henrys death.
Howard married Nora Caroe and died in New York, 9/Jan/1962
Howard and Ellen are buried in Swan Point,Providence.
I haveplenty of other details if you are interested.Henry was a very interesting man. He introduced Henry Rolls to Charles Royce of Rolls Royce motor cars and was a pioneer and correspondent with Edison.

John P. Proudfit

Direct descendent of David Proudfoot b. 1740.

Panda Basham I am the great granddaughter of Sarah Leora Proudfit, daughter of James Bogue Proudfit. I have been researching James and Virginia's children and have found 10 of the 11.
Marlene Mae Proudfit Bown I am the granddaughter of Manley Jay Proudfit now deceased. I am not sure of his family tree. Was made aware of this web site through the newsletter that I read while visiting my father (Loren Proudfit, son of Manley Jay) recently. Also my brother Duane Proudfit is somewhat involved in researching the Proudfit name.
John McAlister Gemmill I believe that my great-grandfather, John McAlister Gemmill is a descendant of David Proundfoot.
Michael Barham My grandfather was Russell Morrow Proudfit who moved to Oregon from the Ozarks.
Lori Flores My uncle has a copy of the Proudfit book from 1911, but I'm not sure which branch of the family I'm from except that Mary Jane Proudfit Wilson is my great, great, grandmother.
Minnie Proudfit My understanding is that Minnie Proudfit married a man by the last name Mann. Minnie died young when her baby, my father, Boyd, was just a baby and he was adopted by another family. A Proudfit family member gave my Dad information of his family tree tracing back to Andrew Proudfit of Perthshire,Scotland.
Myles Johnson I don't find that your info here has any data on the children of Alexander Proudfit, b. 1805 in York, Pa. and d.1859 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
I have been researching my Beatty family, one part of which moved to Oskaloosa in the 1850's --- a widow, Mary Ann (Gilmore) Beatty and four children. The oldest child, Sarah Elizabeth Beatty (1843-1927) married John A. Proudfit, son of Alexander and Margaret (Morrow) Proudfit in Oskaloosa on 30 Mar 1865. I have not looked for any sibs to John. John died on 11 April 1898, and is buried in Oskaloosa (Forest Cemetery).
Sarah and John had 6 chn but few descendants. Only two chn were known to have married but none of their possible descendants can be located.
This absence of descendants is doubtless why your records have no info on the Oskaloosa family.
Todd W. Coe Grandmother: Priscilla Proudfit
Great Grandfather: James Maxwell Proudfit
