Marcus A. Clark
Marcus Anthony Clark, well known citizen of Sumner County, and known to his friends as Dick, died suddenly at his home at Bethpage Tuesday evening, August 3, 1937, at 6 o'clock. His death was due to heart failure. Dick was born in Sumner County near Bethpage 72 years ago. He was reared in Sumner County and lived all his life here with the exception of a few years in Arkansas. He was at one time a member of the County Court. The deceased was possessed of a homely humor and a friendly personality that endeared him to a great number of friends in all walks of life. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Faithie Clark, two sons Herman and Vernon Clark of Bethpage, four brothers, John, Joe, David and Luther Clark, and a sister Mrs. Jim Woodward all of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Funeral services Wednesday afternoon, August 4, at 1:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. Arthur Ruthledge. The burial followed at the Bethpage Cemetery.
