Charles Lumas Powell, 81, of Portland, died on Aug. 22, 2002 at Tennessee
Christian Medical Center, Portland. He served in the U. S. Army in
World War II. He was a teacher and longtime minister of the Church
of Christ. He was also a columnist for The Portland Leader, providing
readers with a nostalgic look at the past through his column, One Outlook.
Survivors include: wife, Geraldine Ayers Powell of Portland, two sons
and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Aug. 25, 2002
at the Portland Church of Christ. Burial was at Old Brush Cemetery.
