Funeral services for William Beeler Dye, Sr., retired farmer and property owner of Portland, who died of pneumonia at the Fountain Head Sanitarium, last Friday morning, August 22, 1941 at 9:45 o'clock, were held at the Portland Church of Christ, Sunday afternoon, August 24 at 3 o'clock (D. S. T.) conducted by Elder Chas. Tidwell, pastor of the church, of which the deceased was a member. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Portland. Mr. Dye retired from active farming about ten years ago, and for the past eight years has been an invalid. A little more than a week ago Mr. Dye fell and broke his hip and was removed to the Fountain Head Sanitarium. Mr. Dye was a high type citizen and had a host of friends. He was noted for his ready wit and always seemed cheerful despite the years of suffering which he bore with fortitude. Survivors besides his widow, Mrs. Cora Fulghum Dye, are four daughters, Mrs. G. F. Cox, Mrs. J. C. Hill, Mrs. G. F. Bandy, and Miss Ruth Dye, all of Portland, four sons, W. B. Dye, Jr., Portland, Howard Dye, Greenville, Duval Dye, U. S. Marine Corps, Iceland; Buford Dye, Nashville; two sisters, Mrs. J. H. Caldwell, Westmoreland, and Mrs. E. L. Keene, Gallatin, three brothers, S. C. Dye, Fountain Head, J. H. Dye, Georgetown, S. C., and F. O. Dye, Cleveland, Ohio.
