Mr. John Tatham, Sr. died at his home in this place last Tuesday afternoon, after an illness of many months duration. Mr. Tatham was born in Halifax, Yorkshire, England 78 years ago and came to this country in the early fifties. He located in New York and for many years engaged in manufacturing, in that state. He came to Franklin from Rochester, Ind., in the year 1884 and has lived here ever since. Shortly after locating here he engaged with John Walsh in the Woolen Mill business and continued to follow it until less than a year ago. Mr. Tatham was twice married, his last wife being Mrs. Smart, of Portland, Tenn., whom he married about 8 years ago. He was a devoted member of the Presbyterian church. . . He is survived by a wife and 5 children--Messrs. Harry, Will and John Tatham, of this place, Mrs. Walter McGlothlin , of Gallatin, and Mrs. W. E. Stalnaker, of Duluth, Minn. The funeral was conducted from the Presbyterian church at half-past two o'clock yesterday by Dr. Irvin, of Bowling Green, and the interment followed in Green Law Cemetery.

Mary Jane Smart was the former Mary Jane Summerville. She married
John Marion Smart in Robertson Co., TN on 6th Jan 1860.
