George Harris LEHMAN, age 79, of Portland died Saturday, December 23, 2006.  Born June 8, 1927 in Cross Plains, Tn., he was the son of the late George Lehman and Whrena (Harris) Lehman.  Mr. Lehman served in the US Army in WWII and was retired from Amerigas Propane Company of Springfield and McKee Banking Co., served as Commander of Portland American Legion Post for five years and attended Byrams Chapel Church. Graveside service was at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Franklin, Ky. Sunday, December 24, 2006.

Annie Viola PERDUE, age 92 of Franklin, Ky. died Friday, December 29, 2006 at the Sumner Regional Hospital. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Lon and Elizabeth Grainger Thaxton.  She was the widow of Tillman Perdue and worked at Franklin Hospital in house keeping and as a cook at Lincoln Elementary and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  Funeral services were held Sunday, December 31, 2006 with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Donald Earl ANDERSON, 67, of Portland died on Friday, December 29, 2006 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. The Sumner County native was born on August 5, 1939 to the late Eva (Woodward) and Gillis Anderson.  He was an engineer and a former Portland City Councilman.  A memorial service was held on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Portland Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Snider PERRY, age 88, of Portland died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Medical Center in Franklin, Ky.  A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Modest Perry and the late Mary Snider Perry.  He as the husband of the late Ola Peggy Hinton.  Mr. Perry, a farmer, was a member of the Mitchellville General Baptist Church.  Funeral services were held Sunday, January 8, 2007 at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home followed by burial in the Blue Door Church Cemetery.

James Horace MALLORY, Sr. age 84, of Estero, Fl. passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Life Care Center of Estero.  Born November 5, 1922, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Ellen Busch Mallory.  Graveside service was held Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Old Brush Cemetery.

Gracie Lee Binion HAUSKINS, 92, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Franklin, Ky., passed away on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.  The Smith County, Tennessee native was the daughter of the late Odell Scott and Effie Mae Raines Binion.  She was formerly employed by Allen Garment Company and was a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Portland.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leslie Hauskins.  Funeral services were held on Monday, January 15, 2007 at Crafton Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky.  Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Betty Jean BASKERVILLE, 71, of Portland passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2007.  The Indianapolis, Ind. native was born to the late Harold and Irene Bertha Rouse Doughty.  She was previously employed by Sumner Regional Medical Center.  She was preceded in death by brothers Frankie Doughty and Marvin Doughty. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the chapel of Gallatin Funeral Home.

Jessica LeeAnn MOORE, age 25, of Portland died Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Portland Medical Center.  She was a secretary for an auto repair business.  Funeral services were at central Church of Christ on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 with interment at Morrison Cemetery.

Hazel Christine BIGGS, age 85, of Cottontown died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born November 5, 1920, to the late Charles Hardin and Bessie (Rogers) Hardin.  She was preceded in death by husband, Elwin Cleon Biggs and son, Allen Wayne Biggs.  Funeral services were held at Portland Funeral Chapel Sunday, January 14, 2007.  Interment followed at Halltown Cemetery.

Brenda Young HARRIS, 62, of Lebanon passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at her residence.  The Sumner County native was born on December 15, 1944 to the late William Hoyte and Ethel Louise Young.  She was preceded in death by her brother, William Harold Young and grandson, John William Hoyte Lamb.  Funeral services were held on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Polly Sue KITCHENS of Portland passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Franklin Medical Center in Franklin, Ky.  The Sumner County native was born to the late Willie and Marry Knight.  She was an insurance representative for Woodmen of the World Insurance Company.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vivian Elaine Kitchens; sister Patricia Ann Knight Marquis; and granddaughter, Ruth Marielynn Brown.  Funeral services were held on Friday, January 19, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Mitchellville General Baptist Church Cemetery.

Alma June BYINGTON, 59, of Hendersonville passed away on Monday, January 15, 2007 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.  The Kentucky native was born on March 19, 1947 to the late Henon Blair and Ruth (Chapman) Blair.  She was a cosmetology instructor.  Funeral services were held on Friday, January 19, 2007 at Portland Funeral Chapel.

Louise Roark HOLLAND, 85, of Ft. Pierce, Fla., formerly of Portland, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2007. The Westmoreland native was born on September 3, 1921 to the late Herman B. Roark and Vercie Keen Roark. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Roark, Jr. and James Alfred Roark.  Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Haisley Funeral Home in Ft. Pierce, Fla.  Interment was at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

Lula Shirrell WEST, 70, of Portland died Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Portland Medical Center.  Born in Franklin, Ky. on December 28, 1936, she is preceded in death by her parents, Earnest Shirrell and Sarah (Carter) Shirrell and husband, Billy West.  Religious services were held Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Interment followed at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

Estelle D. HODGES, 87, of Portland passed away Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Portland Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born on July 22, 1919 to the late Walter and Lizzie Dobbs.  She was preceded in death by sons Raybon Hodges and Richard K. Hodges and his wife Elaine Carter Hodges, and brother, Sam Dobbs. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Church Cemetery.

Helen Elizabeth HALL, 74, passed away January 22, 2007.  The Sumner County native was born on November 26, 1932 to the late James Otis and Bessie Mallory Lame.  She was a member of Portland General Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Hall; sister, Thelma Nicholson; brothers, Walter Lame, Gordon Glen Lame, and James Alvin "Bubby" Lame; granddaughter Margaret Lee Hall; grandson, Travis Hall; and nephew, Jim Looney.  Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Old Brush Cemetery.

John Franklin DINWIDDIE, age 59, of Cedar Hill, Tn. died Monday, January 22, 2007.  A Davidson County native, he was born April 14, 1947 to Anna Lucille (Walker) Dinwiddie of Portland and the late John Arthur Dinwiddie.  Mr. Dinwiddie served in the US Air Force, was Past Master of Portland Lodge #326 F & AM and a retiree of CEMC.  Services were held at the Portland Funeral Chapel Thursday, January 25, 2007.  Interment was at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Louise Macel BOWMAN, age 83, of Portland died Friday, January 26, 2007 at Hearthstone Place, Elkton, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Bowman.  Graveside services were held Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the White House Church of Christ Cemetery.

Emily Louise GROVES, age 90, of Portland passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Hendersonville Medical Center.  She was born March 11, 1916 to the late Floyd and Ethel Hunt.  Preceding her in death was husband, Earl Groves, son Robert Earl Groves, and sister, Irene Muller.  Funeral services were held Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Wilkinson Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment followed at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Tommie Lee ROBERTS, age 19, of Cross Plains passed away Friday, January 26, 2007 at Vanderbilt Medical Center due to injuries received in an automobile accident.  Born March 27, 1987 in Robertson County, he worked as a crew leader for Hardee's in White House and was a member of Temple Praise Community Church. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 28, 2007 in the chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral Home in Springfield.  Interment followed in Owens Chapel Cemetery.

Lorene HARRIS, age 84, of Franklin, Ky, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Medical Center of Franklin.  Ms. Harris, a Portland native, was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by both parents, James Rippy and Hugh Ella Gibbs Rippy.  Funeral services were held Friday, February 2, 2007 at Alpha Baptist Church.  Interment followed at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

Kevin WHITE, age 50, of Scottsville, Ky. died Monday, January 29, 2007.  The Allen County native was a farmer and a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.  He was the son of Jean Marie Ramsey White and William Earl White.  Funeral services were held Friday, February 2, 2007 at Goad Funeral Home.  Burial in Allen County Memorial Gardens.

Clarence GRAEF, age 84, of Portland died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Portland Medical Center.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George A. Graef and Emma Elizabeth Konow Graef as well as his wife, Mary Louise Graef.  He was a farmer and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Simpson Co., Ky.

T. A. PERDUE, age 89, of Portland passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the Portland Medical Center. Mr. Perdue was born in Clay County on July 24, 1917 to the late Clark and Ethel Perdue.  Preceding him in death was his wife, Ruby.  Funeral services were held Friday, February 16, 2007.  Interment followed at the Restlawn Memory Gardens.

Mary D. Mayes PERDUE, age 83, of Scottsville, Ky. died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at the Britthaven Nursing Facility in Bowling Green.  A native of Sumner County, she was the daughter of the late James Douglas Mayes and Beulah Hodges Mayes.  She was a cosmetologist in Tennessee and Arizona, a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Moose Club in Indianapolis and a member of the Scottsdale Baptist Church in Arizona.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Schmitz and her husband, Marcus Bates Perdue, Jr.  Services were held Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Crafton Funeral Home with another service Friday, February 23 at the Washington Park East Funeral Home in Indianapolis with burial following at the facility cemetery.

David Leslie MAYHEW, age 59, of Franklin, Ky. died Friday, February 23, 2007 at his residence.  A native of Clearwater, Fla., he was the son of the late Samuel David Mayhew and the late Maudeline Meador Mayhew. Graveside services were held Monday, February 26, 2007 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

Sandra Sue UPCHURCH, age 65, of Cottontown passed away Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Skyline Medical Center.  Born in Cook, Ill, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Goldie Winebrenner.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Winston Bruce Upchurch.  Services will be Thursday, March 1, 2007 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Old Halltown Cemetery.

Richard "Rick" HAMMER, age 50, of Hutchinson, Mn. passed away Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Birchwood Hospice House.  He was born July 10, 1956.  He received his elementary education at St. Anastasia Catholic School and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1974.  Rick furthered his education at Southwest State University in Marshall, Mn. and received a Bachelor of Biology Degree.  After graduating from Southwest State, Rick moved to New Hampshire where he was employed at Seabrook Nuclear plant.  He later moved to Nashville where he opened his own construction company, which he owned and operated for 17 years. While living in Tennessee, Rick attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Gallatin.  Rick is preceded in death by his grandparents Alois and Margaret Hammer, Martin and Ellen Brulla, uncles, Donald Brulla, Leonard Brulla, Darryl Hartz, Bill Norton; aunts, Jane Brulla and Eileen Norton.  A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, March 3, 2007 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, Mn. with interment in the church cemetery.

Bobby James "Jimmy" KEEN, age 61, of Portland passed away Friday, February 16, 2007 at his residence.  A native of Franklin, Ky. he was the son of the late James Thomas Keen.  Services were held Monday, February 19, 2007.  Interment followed at Mitchellville General Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lela Ruth BOREN, age 100, of Portland passed away Friday, March 2, 2007 at Portland Medical Center.  She was born in Sumner County on March 26, 1906 to the late Alonzo and Callie Taylor.  Funeral services were held Monday, March 5, 2007 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment followed at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Michelle Ann BOWERS, age 33, of Portland passed away Friday, March 2, 2007 at her residence.  She was born in Clarksburg, WV.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Roberts and Bro. Ritchie Williams officiating.  Interment was at Old Brush Cemetery.

Dean McGUFFIE, age 77, of Portland passed away Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Highland Manor.  She was born in Macon County to the late Joseph and Bessie McGuffie.  Retired from McGuffie Bargain Warehouse, she was a member at Rocky Mound Church.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Vonnie Poole, brothers Granville McGuffie, J. L. McGuffie, and J. B. McGuffie.  Services were held Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment followed at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Robert A. GAMMON, 82, of Orlinda died on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Skyline Medical Center.  The Trousdale County native was born October 19, 1924 to the late Andrew Jackson Gammon and Evangie (Duffer) Gammon. He was a retired self-employed dairy farmer and atttended Station Camp Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.  He was preceded in death by both parents, son James A. Gammon, and his wife of 63 years, Geneva (York) Gammon.  Services were conducted on Friday, March 9, 2007 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Lanny Ray BRILEY, 49, of Gallatin passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born on March 16, 1957 to Lilly Briley and the late Billy Joe Briley. Graveside services were held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Halltown Cemetery.

Peggy Joyce HARDIN, 60, of Portland passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2007 at her residence.  The Simpson County native was born on October 31, 1946 to the late Ola Mae and Raymond Hardin.  She was preceded in death by both parents; brothers Charles Hardin, Roger Hardin, Jerry Hardin and Tony Hardin; and sisters Barbara Gregory and Martha Tomlinson.  Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Sulfur Springs Cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

Oscar Lee POWERS, 85, of Portland passed away on Monday, March 12, 2007 at Highland Manor Nursing Home.  The Sullivan County native was born on November 7, 1921 to the late Mamie and Claude Powers.  He served his country during World War II.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Old Brush Cemetery.

James Donald HARRIS, 79, of Portland passed away on Monday, March 12, 2007 at Skyline Medical Center. The Sumner County native was born on June 4, 1927 to the late Rhoda Mai (Chambers) and Harvey Harris.  He was retired from Dupont and served his country in the United States Army during World War II.  He was preceded in death by both parents and son James Michael Harris.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Disposition will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Robert Loren KUYKENDALL , 60, of Portland passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2006 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Alabama native was born on November 8, 1946 to the late Percy Kuykendall.  (His mother, wife, two daughters and 3 grandchildren survive).  He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.  Funeral services were held on Friday, March 16, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Old Brush Cemetery.

Thelma Reed GREER, 83, of Portland passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at her residence.  The Sumner County native was born on March 6, 1924 to the late Vernon and Ola Hinton.  She was retired from Highland Hospital.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Greer; daughter, Carol Hardin; brother, Lawrence Hinton; and son in law, Jim Trammell.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Hillcrest Cemetery in White House.

Dr. Albert G. DITTES, 94, a family physician in the Portland area for 53 years, died of natural causes at Highland Manor Nursing Home on Tuesday, March 13, 2007.  He was born on April 10, 1912, the day the Titanic left England on its maiden voyage, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Gotthold and Anna Dittes, an immigrant couple from Germany.  He grew up working in his father's grocery store in various towns on Long Island.  His formal education began at the age of 21 when he went to Madison College in Madison and then medical school at Loma University in Southern California, graduating in 1941.  He served for two years in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII.  He joined the Portland medical practice of Dr. Reuben Johnson in 1946 and spent the rest of his life in the Portland area.  Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements with burial in Old Brush Cemetery.

Don Lee MORRIS, 72, of Portland passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born April 11, 1934 to the late Walter E. Morris and Bernice (Franz) Morris.  Services were held Sunday, March 18 at 2 pm at Portland First Baptist Church with Bro. Greg McCoy and Bro. Richard Patton officiating.  The Portland Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Ernest "Jack" SHRUM, 68, of Brownsburg, Ind. passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2007.  He was retired from Conrail Yards in Avon, Ind. in 1993 after 30 years as the car department supervisor.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Shrum; mother, Effie Brown; and stepfather, Smith Brown.  Memorial services were held on Monday, April 2, 2007 at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, Ind.  Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Old Brush Cemetery.

Molly Groves HARP, 91, of Franklin, Ky. died on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Medco Center in Franklin. The Simpson County native was the daughter of the late Frank Groves and Alice Dillard Groves.  She had worked at the Lenk Company in Franklin, Ky.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Harp.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Crafton Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky.  Burial was at Old Brush Cemetery.

Billy McCOIN, 73, of Portland died on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Portland Medical Center.  The Portland native was born on November 13, 1933 to the late Leanor (Trammel) and Will McCoin.  He was a farmer.  Funeral services were held on Friday, April 6, 2007 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Burial was in Sherron Cemetery.

Jackie Winford ROGERS, 68, of Hermitage died on Friday, April 6, 2007 at Summit Medical Center.  The Portland native was born on April 4, 1939 to the late Nellie (Poole) and Jefferson Rogers.  Funeral services were held on Monday, April 9, 2007 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Oscar Lee MOORE, 51, of Franklin, Ky. died on Thursday, April 5, 2007.  The Simpson County, Ky. native was born on October 24, 1955 to the late Lawrence Moore (mother still survives).  He was self-employed.  Funeral services were held on Monday, April 9, 2007 at Franklin Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky.  Burial was in Shady Rest Cemetery in Franklin.

Mary Elizabeth ALLISON, 84, of Hendersonville died on Sunday, April 8, 2007.  The Sumner County native was born to the late Charlie and Iva Rippy.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Allison.  Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, April 22, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Fairfield Cemetery.

Billy Ray CUMMINS, 71, of Portland died on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Baptist Hospital.  The Murray County native was the son of the late Felix and Lura Cummins.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa South. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home. Interment was at Sherron Cemetery.

Carlene Mandrell McGUFFEY, 89, of Franklin, Ky. died on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Medco Center in Franklin, Ky.  The Sumner County native was the daughter of the late Freeman Mandrell and Gertrude Brown Mandrell.  She was a member of the Martin's Chapel General Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard McGuffey; daughter, Barbara McGuffey; and grandson, Randy Eitel.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Crafton Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky.  Burial was in Martin's Chapel Cemetery.

Linda Gayle HEICHER, 66, passed away after a short illness on April 13, 2007 at Alive Hospice in Nashville while surrounded by family.  She was married in Vandalia, Ill. on March 10, 1961, was born in Nashville on February 18, 1941 but lived most of her life in the Davidson/Sumner County area.  She had also retired to Naples, FLa. for a short period of time.  She attended the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Ashland City.  Mrs. Heicher was a dispensing license optician and owner of Eye Specs Inc. in Hermitage.  She later was a realtor for ERA Martin Realty in Portland.  Mrs. Heicher was preceded in death by her parents, Emma Lee and Lloyd Hunter and daughter, Jennifer Fay Felts.  Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Cheatham County Funeral Home.  Interment was in the Cheatham Memorial Gardens in Pleasant View.

Ardell PAYNE, 68, of Franklin, Ky. died on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Medco Nursing Home in Franklin, Ky.  The Franklin, Ky. native was the daughter of the late Margaret Lucas and Eddie Lee.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Elevated Baptist Church.  Burial was in Shady Rest Cemetery.  Franklin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Joe WILLIAMS, 71, of Portland died on Friday, April 20, 2007 at Highland Manor.  The Sumner County native was born on June 22, 1935 to the late Herman and Martha Williams.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Jean Williams; son, David Wayne Williams; sister, Bonnie Broner; and brother, Charles Douglas Williams.  Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Eulah Cemetery in Macon County.

Charlotte Irene LAMBERT, 82, of Portland, Tenn., peacefully passed away in Bozeman, Montana on April 4, 2007 with her loving family by her side.  She was born September 8, 1924 in Charleston, West Virginia, the daughter and first of three children to James E. Lippart and C. Ruth Johnston Lippart.  As a child, Charlotte's family moved all over the country with her father's employment with the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  In 1943 she married childhood sweetheart Clarence Lambert at the Bethesda Naval Hospital Chapel in Maryland. Clarence died in 1963 leaving Charlotte to raise her 5 children.  To be near her parents, Jimmie and Ruth Lippart, Charlotte moved to Portland, Tenn.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, and two sons, Kenneth and James.  A memorial service will be held in Portland on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Old Brush Cemetery at 4 pm.

STUBBLEFIELD, 84, of Lafayette died on Sunday, July 8, 2007 at Macon County General Hospital.  The Macon County native was born on April 14, 1923 to the late Marshall and Melvina (Russell) Draper.  She was a homemaker, caregiver and worked for Imperial Reading Garment Company for 15 years.  She was retired from Carter Automotive Products Corporation.  She was a member of the Lafayette Church of Christ.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester D. Jessie W. "Dick" RICHARDSON, 88, of Greenbrier was called home by God in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 26, 2007.  He was born August 15, 1918 in Jackson County to the late Bedford C. Richardson and the late Lola C. Ethridge Richardson.  On December 23, 1944 he married the love of his life (who survives). Seven children also survive.  Funeral services were conducted on Saturday July 28, 2007 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Goodlettsville.  Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Eugene WALKER, 65, of Adolphus, Ky. died on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green.  The Allen County, Ky. native was the son of the late Andrew Arvel Walker and Ora Mae Fishburn Walker.  He was a former employee of Imperial Fabricating.  He attended Faith Assembly Free Pentecostal Church.  He was preceded in death by a son, Cory Gene Walker, and a brother, Kenneth Donald Walker. Russell WISEMAN, 86, of Springfield, formerly of Portland, died on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at his residence. The Sumner County native was born on October 6, 1920 to the late James William and Tempie Lane Wiseman Sr.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty Jean McGlothlin Wiseman; sisters, Ruth Armstrong and Mildred Johnson; and brother J. Laurene Gladen THOMERSON, 90, of Portland died on Monday, September 3, 2007 at Portland Medical Center.  Born on March 4, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Vennie Smith Woodard. Beatrice Edens COOK, 85, of Franklin, Ky. died on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  She was born on March 17, 1920 to the late Elmer (Bud) Edens and the late Myrtle Huffines Edens.  She was a member of the Martin's Chapel General Baptist Church where she served as clerk, historian and Sunday School teacher.  She was also a past 4-H leader, homemaker club and hospital auxillary.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Martin Cook, and two brothers, Raymond Edens and Thurman Edens. Funeral services were held on Friday, September 7, 2007 at Martin's Chapel General Baptist Church.  Interment was in Martin's Chapel Church Cemetery.  Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

W. and Viola Fishburn. She was a member of the Portland General Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, James E. Charlie "C. W." FREEMAN, 88, of Lebanon died on Sunday, September 23, 2007.  The Sumner County native was born on August 23, 1919 to the late Claude and Emma Freeman.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Freeman.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Laura M. HILLS, 85, went peacefully to be with God Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Highland Manor Nursing Home.  Laura was born October 31, 1921 in Bangor, Maine, daughter of the late Benjamin Forrest and Katherine Martin Forrest.  Mrs. Hills was a member of the Eastern Star in Maine for 45 years.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth "Bud" Hills in Colorado approximately 23 years ago.  In lieu of a separate memorial service, Rev. Felix Snell came to her room a couple of days before she left us and had a special prayer, also a day of Christian music was held in her room and many Highland Manor workers came and attended. They told her of their love for her and had prayers.  Arrangements by Family Heritage Funeral Home.

Philip R. CALVERT, 70, of Scottsville, Ky. died on Friday, September 28, 2007 at his residence.  The Allen County, Ky. native was the son of the late William David "Bill" Calvert and Virginia Dotson Calvert.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and saw action during the Korean Conflict, he was a farmer and a former employee of Haxby News.  He was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church.  Funeral services were held on Monday, October 1, 2007 at Goad Funeral Home.  Burial was in Crescent Hill Cemetery with military rites provided by the Barren County D. Major Harry G. LANE (USAF, Ret.) died on Wednesday, September 26, 2007.  The Portland native was born on February 3, 1920 to Harry S. Lane and Ruth Jones Lane.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Air Force and served his country in World War II and the Korean War.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years.  Memorial services were held on Friday, October 5, 2007 at Our Lady of Loretta Church in Novato, Calif.

On September 16, 2007 Lavone Marie ESPE lost her courageous battle with cancer, of which she gallantly fought until her last breath at the home of her sister in North Carolina.  Lavone was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 11, 1947.  She was a former resident of Portland and was employed at the Portland Distribution Center of CWC. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Hammond; father, Billy E. Smyser; brother, Roger A. Smyser; and two husbands.

Tommy Wayne HENSON, 62, of Muldrow, Okla. died on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.  The Franklin, Ky. native was born on April 9, 1945 to the late William Thomas Henson and Nannie Belle Coker.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. and served two tours in Vietnam.  He was a truck driver for FWCC, Inc. of Muldrow, Okla.  He was preceded in death by both parents.

Donald P. JONES, 86, of Portland died on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Highland Manor Nursing Home.  The New York native was born on December 31, 1920 to the late Nelson Jones and Mabel (Washer) Jones.  He was retired from American Motors, Hendersonville Nursing Home, Western Auto, and previously taught at Nashville Auto Diesel School.  He served his country in the United States Army Air Force and saw combat during World War II.  He was a member of the Portland General Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Leona Martell Jones, who was the mother of their sons.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Portland Funeral Chapel.

Myrtle "Pat" CLARK, 85, of Walla Walla, WAsh., formerly of Portland, died on Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Washington Odd Fellows Home.  Mrs. Clark was born April 25, 1922, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, to Ervin Adolf and Martha McCleary Gloor.  She graduated from high school in New Hampshire and attended Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts.  On February 6, 1941, she and Stanley Gordon Clark married in Stoneham.  She was a proof reader at College Press at Atlantic Union College.  She moved to this area in 2002 from Portland, Tennessee.  Mr. Clark died May 9, 2005.  Her interests included quilting, poetry, writing music, playing piano and making Bible puzzles.  She was a member of the Village Seventh Day Adventist Church.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Gloor and one niece.

Glenn Irving PIERATT, 80, of Nashville died on Monday, October 29, 2007.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years.  Funeral services were held on Friday, November 2, 2007 from the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home.  Interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Dwayne Lee TINKER, 61, of Gallatin died on Sunday, November 11, 2007.  The Arkansas native was born October 10, 1946 to the late Herman Lee Tinker and Inez Taylor Tinker.  He served as a minister at the College Heights Baptist Church in Gallatin.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at College Heights Baptist Church.  Entombment was in Sumner Memorial Gardens.  Full military rites were provided.

Margaret Allen McNEILL, loving daughter, wife and mother, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2007 at the age of 86 years.  The last months of her life were spent in care and comfort at the Tyndall Good Samaritan Center.  Margaret was born in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania on September 30, 1921.  She married Edgar Howard McNeill of Portland in 1943.  To this union were born two sons.  Margaret enjoyed her life with enthusiasm.  She was always active in social, service, and church organizations in the many places she and her family resided which included Oklahoma, Indiana, Connecticut, Washington state, and Tennessee.  She loved books music and the theater.  Her personal library included many works on American Indians, of whom she was a great admirer and ardent student.  She collected arrowheads extensively on her personal archaeological hikes in Tennessee farm fields and woods.  When her husband passed away in 1980, she moved to South Dakota, residing first in Yankton for several years and then in Springfield for nineteen years, until her time of residence in the Tyndall Good Samaritan Home in January, 2007. Graveside services will be held in Portland at a time forthcoming.

Mary Bendel RAMBO, 94, of Portland passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at her residence.  She was born in Rodfield, PA on August 30, 1913 to the late Henry and Julia Bendel.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William I. Rambo.  Mrs. Rambo was a former Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School teacher in the United Methodist Church.  She was active in the United Methodist women and will be remembered for her work in the Reading Program at the First United Methodist Church in Port St. Lucie, Fla.  She also served as an honorary board member of World's Children organization caring for children around the world.

Clemon Wallace GILLIAM, 83, of Portland died on Monday, November 19, 2007 at his residence.  The Trousdale County native was born on July 7, 1924 to the late Willie Guy and Zula May Gilliam.  He was retired from the Sumner County Board of Education.  He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the McKendree Memorial United Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Calvert Gilliam; sister, Virginia Hunter; and brothers, Orville Gilliam, Russell Gilliam, Noel Gilliam and Robert Gilliam.  Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 1, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Sherron Cemetery.

William M. HUNTER, 86, of Murfreesboro died on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.  He was born on September 16, 1921 in Gordonsville, Tenn. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Adrian Hunter.  Mr. Hunter was a graduate of Tennessee Tech and Peabody college and was an educator for forty years.  He served as principal of Sumner County Schools in Portland and as principal of Central High School in Columbia before joining the state Department of Education in 1964 as Director of Schools for Middle Tennessee.  He was a veteran of World War II and was an USN Ensign graduating from Midshipman School at Columbia University, NY where he was assigned to LST duty and transferred to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, D.C. as Assistant Officer at the Message Center.  In January 1945, he was assigned to attend the Yalta Conference in Russia and in July 1945 to the Potsdam Conference in Germany.  He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Murfreesboro Kiwanis Club of which he was a Hixon Fellow in honor of his support for their educational programs.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Murfreesboro First United Methodist Church.  A private interment was conducted in the Gordonsville Cemetery on Sunday, December 16, 2007 where the Murfreesboro Kiwanis Club served as honorary pallbearers at the church.  He was buried with full military rites provided by the U. S. Navy.

Jerry Wayne CRON, 66, of Portland died on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Centennial Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born on September 29, 1941 to the late James Howard and Aline Helmenteller Cron.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Adella Link Cron.  Funeral services were held on Friday, December 14, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Bush's Chapel Cemetery.

Justin HALL, 61, of Hendersonville died on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born on June 2, 1946 to the late Claude and Fannie Parks Hall.  He was the owner and operator of Sumner Crest Winery.  He was a member of the Free Masons and a Shriner.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Cecil Hall and Farris Hall.  Visitation will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House.  Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in White House Memorial Gardens.

Peggy Jeanette BROWN, 55, of Portland died on Sunday, December 16, 2007.  The Sumner County native was born on May 4, 1952.  Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Portland Memorial Gardens.
