Mrs. Harry Short Dies Unexpectedly

Mrs. Marguerite Louise Lane Short, 37, wife of Harry Short who is county farm agent of Montgomery County, died unexpectedly Wednesday at the home of her sister, Mrs. G. D. Moore of Springfield. She had been in ill health several months. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Portland Baptist Church. Burial was in Maple  Hi1l Cemetery. Mrs. Short was a daughter of the late Brandon and Mary Lanier Lane. She was born and reared in Portland and was a graduate of Sumner County High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarksville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Suzanne and Harriett Lane Short; three sisters, Miss Clarice Lane of Nashville, Miss Mary Bernice Lane and Mrs. Moore; five brothers, Gilliam and H. B. Lane, Jr., both of Portland; Hugh and J. L. Lane of San Bernardino, Calif., and Herbert Lane of Los Angeles, Calif.

Wife Of Montgomery County Agent Dies Of Heart Attack Here

Mrs. Marguerite Lane Short, 37, wife of Harry W. Short, county agent of Montgomery County, died of a heart attack about 7:30 yesterday morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. G. D. Moore in Springfield. Mrs. Short, who was visiting here at the time of her fatal attack, had been ill for some time but her condition was not regarded as serious. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 2:30 at the Portland Baptist Church, with Dr. Richard A. Owen, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Clarksville, assisted by the Rev. J. Burch Cooper, pastor of the Portland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Portland. Mrs. Short was a native of Portland but had been living in Clarksville for a number of years. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Suzanne, and Harriett Lane Short; sisters, Mrs. G. D. Moore, of Springfield; Miss Mary Bernice Lane, of Portland; Miss Clarice Lane, of Nashville; brothers, H. E. and J. L. Lane, of San Bernardino, Calif.; Herbert Lane, of Los Angeles, Calif.; H. B. and Gilliam Lane of Portland.

Short; two small daughters, Suzanne and Harriet Lane Short of Clarksville. Sisters. Mrs. Guilford D. Moore of Springfield, Mrs. Mary Bernice Lane, Mrs. Clarice Lane of Nashville, and brothers. H. E. and J. L. Lane of San Bernardino, Calif., and Herbert Lane of Los Angeles, H. B. and Gilliam Lane of Portland, Tenn. The remains are at the home of her sister, Mrs. Guilford D. Moore. Funeral services Thursday at 2:30 p. m., from the Portland Baptist Church, by Dr. Richard N. Owen, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Clarksville, assisted by Rev. J. Burch Cooper, pastor of the Portland Baptist Church. Active pallbearers, Charlie Green, Albert Jobe, Harman Jones, Ralph Ring, Walton Link and Douglas Payne. Burial at Maple Hill Cemetery of Portland, Tenn. Associated Funeral Directors in charge.
