Esther Hawkins Smart, age 59 passed away January 22, 1979 at Highland Hospital. Born September 12, 1919 she resided at 112 Wheeler Street, Portland, Tenn. She was a factory worker for Lawnlite. The funeral was at Portland General Baptist Church Wednesday, Jan 24 at 2 p. m. with H. S. Jenkins officiating. Interment in Maple Hill Cemetery. Surviving relatives are her husband, Horace Smart, Portland; two daughters, Jackie Power, Christie Bandy both of Portland; two sons, Jim Smart, Gallatin, Bill Smart, Portland; mother Mrs. Ivy Hawkins, Gallatin; three sisters, Mrs. Ivy Hawkins, Gallatin; three sisters, Mrs. Lorine Hunter, Portland, Eva Whitaker, White House, Wilma Gooch, Gallatin; one brother, Tom G. Hawkins, Edmond, Okla, 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
