Woman Is Killed When Thrown From Truck
As Mrs. Lovie Sadler Swann was getting into her truck on the road near Kempville Saturday night about ten thirty o'clock, the truck was struck by a car, said to have been driven by Jewel Lee Dillehay. The impact threw Mrs. Swann into the road, her neck being broken. She died on the way to a hospital at Lebanon. Her daughter, who was also about to get into the truck escaped injury. Young Dillehay, sustained painful bruises that kept him in bed for some time. Mrs. Sadler, who was 41 years of age, had attended an ice cream supper and a cake walk at the Kempville school. When she was ready to leave, her son went to the truck arid Mrs. Swann and a daughter walked on down the road toward her home which was in the Kempville community. When her son overtook his mother and his sister, he stopped the truck, into which Mrs. Swann was climbing when the fatal accident happened. The remains were laid to rest about three thirty Sunday afternoon in the Smith Cemetery, near Friendship church, following funeral services conducted by Elder F. W. Lambert in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friends. She was a professed Christian, although she was not a member of any church. Surviving her are, her husband, Lebert Swann; three sons, Ottie Ray, Donald Gray and Bobbie Clay Swann; and two daughters, Hester and Opal Swann. The tragic death of Mrs. Swann was a great shock to the Kempville section.
