   It is presumed that the Stephen JAYNE who appears in the North Carolina, and Virginia records was our subject Stephen,4 JAYNE. A record shows He was 34 years old living in Surry County, NC., on Sep. 13, 1784, when he purchased 300 acres lying on a branch of the Yadkin River from THOMAS EVANS; He sold and bought various sections of land in North Carolina and Virginia.
(Surry County, NC; Deed Book 1, page 389; September 13, 1784)
      "....Thomas EVANS, of Surry county, conveyed 300 acres lying on the branch of the Yadkin River... to Stephen JAYNE..."

   At the age of 43, Stephen,4 JAYNE, was in Grayson Co., VA., where he bought 498 acres.
(Grayson County, Va.; Deed Book 1, page 389; March 23, 1793)
      ....James NEWELL, and Sarah his wife of Surry county, conveyed 498 acres lying on Chestnut Creek in Grayson County, Virginia... to Stephen JEAN..."

   Stephen, 4 JAYNE, age 46, while living in Grayson Co., NC. sold his Surry Co., NC property, which he bought in 1784.
      "....(Surry County, NC; Deed Book 1, page 389; August 9, 1796) Stephen JAYNE, of Grayson county, Virginia, conveyed a tract of land lying on Tom's Creek, in Surry County, NC. to James PARSONS of Guilford County, N.C...."

   Later in that same year (Sep.) he sold 382 acres of the Surry Co., property, which he had bought in August.
(Surry County, NC; Deed Book __, page __; September 15, 1796)
      "....Stephen JAYNE, of Surry county, conveyed 382 acres lying on Tom's Creek in Surry County... to Edward LOVELL..."

   It seams that in 1801 the 51 year old Stephen, 4 JAYNE, sold his remaining property in Grayson Co., VA. and removed to Lee Co., VA. where his other brothers were:
(Grayson County, Va., ; Deed Book __, page __; March 07, 1801)
      "...Stephen JAYNE, and Elizabeth his wife of Grayson County, Va., conveyed 498 acres lying on Chestnut Creek in Grayson County, Virginia... to Philip TAYLOR...."

     Ten years later, at the age of 37, (1789) Zipher JAYNE, received another 300 acres in Surry Co., NC;

     Zipher JAYNE, age 34, is believed to have died in Wythe County, Virginia, prior to Will being proved on 10th Jan. 1791 (Wythe County, Virginia;
     Will Book No. 1, page 16; December 10, 1790)
