In REF:#155, Pg4 Nobel Sarratts' Book of 1897 he states: My Grandfather JOHN SARRATT, with his brothers, SAMUEL, LEMUEL, and sisters KISSIE and MIRNA, ALLEN SARRATT, MATTHEW SCRUTCHFIELD, EDWIN GREEN, THOMAS FARMER and others, all moved from the Yadkin River in North Carolina and settled upon the South side of the Broad River, near the mouth of Sarratt's Creek, before the Revolutionary war between the colonies and England. The mouth of Sarratt's Creek is in the northeast portion of Spartanburg County, of South Carolina, adjoining York County, which was formerly a portion of the old Ninety-Six district. Note: Nobel did NOT list Thomas,2 as a brother of his Grandfather John,2 SARRATT, he never mentions Thomas,2 SARRATT? |

In [REF:#90, Pg 153 Laura & Normans Surratt, 1980 Book list: Apparently Allen SARRATT (4.8) was a son of Samuel SARRATT who moved from along the Yadkin River in North Carolina to Tryon County, to the Broad River where he received a Grant of Land in 1771. This area later became part of South Carolina and Spartanburg County. Noble Sarratt, a descendant of these Sarratts, wrote a short history of this family in the 1890's but he neglected to mention (Our Subject) Samuel Sarratt, Sr. My Grandfather JOHN SARRATT, with his brothers, SAMUEL, LEMUEL, and sisters KISSIE and MIRNA, ALLEN SARRATT, MATTHEW SCRUTCHFIELD, EDWIN GREEN, THOMAS FARMER and others, all moved from the Yadkin River in North Carolina and settled upon the South side of the Broad River, near the mouth of Sarratt's Creek, before the Revolutionary war between the colonies and England. Land Dealings, Wills, and Notes from Nible Sarratt 1897 papers for "Proof". Exact "Proof" is not to be had, but evidence points to the family structures as they follows: Samuel SARRATT, probably a Son of Samuel SARRATT who settled on the "South Hico" in North Carolina. He moved to the "Broad River" in South Carolina before 1770. 4.1 Samuel SARRATT, 4.2 John SARRATT, (Noble's Grandfather) 4.3 Lemuel or Leonard SARRATT, 4.4 William SARRATT, (married Thomas COLE's Sister) 4.5 Thomas SARRATT, 4.6 Kizzie SARRATT, 4.7 Mirna SARRATT, 4.8 Allen SARRATT, b. c1763 NC., (See Tennessee) |
