Nobel J. Sarratts' Book 1897 In REF:#155, Pg4 Nobel Sarratts' Book of 1897 he states:
My Grandfather JOHN SARRATT, with his brothers, SAMUEL, LEMUEL, and sisters KISSIE and MIRNA, ALLEN SARRATT, MATTHEW SCRUTCHFIELD, EDWIN GREEN, THOMAS FARMER and others, all moved from the Yadkin River in North Carolina and settled upon the South side of the Broad River, near the mouth of Sarratt's Creek, before the Revolutionary war between the colonies and England. The mouth of Sarratt's Creek is in the northeast portion of Spartanburg County, of South Carolina, adjoining York County, which was formerly a portion of the old Ninety-Six district.
Note: Nobel did NOT list Thomas,2 as a brother of his Grandfather John,2 SARRATT, he never mentions Thomas,2 SARRATT?

  Possible Record Problem #2
Laura & Normans' Book 1980 In [REF:#90, Pg 153 Laura & Normans Surratt, 1980 Book list:
Apparently Allen SARRATT (4.8) was a son of Samuel SARRATT who moved from along the Yadkin River in North Carolina to Tryon County, to the Broad River where he received a Grant of Land in 1771. This area later became part of South Carolina and Spartanburg County.
Noble Sarratt, a descendant of these Sarratts, wrote a short history of this family in the 1890's but he neglected to mention (Our Subject) Samuel Sarratt, Sr.

Laura & Normans' Book 1980 In [REF:#90, Pg 159 Laura & Normans Surratt, 1980 Book list:
The early families of the Spartanburg area are charted below using the Census. Land Dealings, Wills, and Notes from Nible Sarratt 1897 papers for "Proof". Exact "Proof" is not to be had, but evidence points to the family structures as they follows:
Samuel SARRATT, probably a Son of Samuel SARRATT who settled on the "South Hico" in North Carolina. He moved to the "Broad River" in South Carolina before 1770.

4.1 Samuel SARRATT,
4.2 John SARRATT, (Noble's Grandfather)
4.3 Lemuel or Leonard SARRATT,
4.4 William SARRATT, (married Thomas COLE's Sister)
4.5 Thomas SARRATT,
4.6 Kizzie SARRATT,
4.7 Mirna SARRATT,
4.8 Allen SARRATT, b. c1763 NC., (See Tennessee)

SARRATT, Son of ANTHONY SARRATT; Grandson of John, 2 SARRETT; Great-Grandson of Samuel,2 SARRATT wrote in his memoirs 1897. "I am of the opinion that the first SARRATTS came from Wales and settled in Massachusetts, whence they migrated South in the early settling of the country."
Note statement "settled in Mass. and migrated to SC." all other records indicate they migrated to Prince George's Co., Maryland, then Orange/Pearson Co; NC. Tryon Co., NC. then Spartanburg Dist. of SC. ...prs]

  Possible Record Problem #5
Nobel J. Sarratts' Book 1897  In the "Sarratt Family History", (Source [REF:#155] states:
These early SARRATT'S used to shop in Lincolnton, of Lincoln Co., North Carolina while residing in Spartanburg Co., South Carolina. My Great-Grandfather Samuel SARRATT, lived in then Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, in 1768. There are still SARRATTS in that County and in Davidson County (in 1893). They all knew each other, even if exact relationships had been forgotten. The Mecklenburg Co., NC. SARRATTS had simply moved across the boarder into South Carolina and the Davidson Co., NC group had never left their Plantations which had originally been in Rowan County, before the formation of Davidson County in 1822."
[NOBEL J. SARRATT, did NOT mention his Great-Great Grandfather Samuel, 1 SARRATT, Sr. as making this move from the old Rowan Co., NC to the old Tryon Co., NC. later Spartanburg Dist. of SC., [See 1774 Deed] apparently not remembering his move or thought he remained in old Rowan Co., NC. ....prs]

Laura & Normans' Book 1980 In [REF:#90, Pg 161 Laura & Normans Surratt, 1980 Book list:
Descendant and Researcher Mrs. MARIAN (NEWSOM) JOHN, has constructed her Family History, of her Grandmother MARTHA EMMA (SARRETT) NEWSOM and believes them to descend from 1.2.3 SAMUEL, 02 SARRATT (1742-c1805) of the South side of the Broad River, Spartanburg Co., South Carolina, although no proof exists.
She has constructed this History from various records including existing family documents and it concerns two Brothers:

Possible Record Problem
Nobel J. Sarratts' Book 1897 In REF:#155, Pg3 Nobel Sarratts' Book of 1897 he states:
"Samuel SARRATT, Sr., lived in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, in 1808, and there are still SARRATTS in that County and Davidson.
[This would make Samuel,2 SARRATT, 66 years old in 1808, not recorded in 1810 Census, for Mecklenburg Co., NC....prs]

Cemetery Location Unknown (to me) Mecklenburg Co., NC.
"Father"
Samuel SURRATT, age 66yrs
1742 - 1808

(Need Photo of Headstone)
"Mother"
Elizabeth SURRATT, age ??yrs
178? - 18??
This is the last record found for Samuel,2 SARRATT, and which one can assume he died close hereafter, he would have been 66 years old. The search is still on for the death record and burial place of Samuel, 2 and Elizabeth SARRATT. No record of the Wife living with any of the Sons in the 1810 Census, daughters marriages are still unknown. ..prs
