During an Indian uprising when Maria Barbara was abt 7 yrs old, some Indians came to her home while her father was away. Upon his return he was scalped & killed by the Indians in the presence of his family. The Indians took the mother, a baby in arms, her 5 yr old bro & Maria Barbara as captives.
