[NI130825] Per "History of Clinton Co., OH", Chicago: W.H. Beers & Co, 1882: at pg 782, he was elected Vernon Twp Constable Twp election held at the home of Michel Pepper 1836; at pg 790, he was a cabinetmaker. Dates of birth based on (1) "Gateway to the West", at pg. 653: on 30 Oct 1823, guardianship filed Warren Co. Probate Court for Elisha Cast 13 yrs, Alfred Cast 11 yrs, & William Reily Cast 6 yrs, with guardian John Cast; & (2) Census. 1840 Census for Vernon Twp, Clinton Co, Oh, pg 358: Alfred Cast head of household, was bet. 20 & 30 yrs old; 1 more male under 5 yrs (must be John W. who was 26 when he entered 17th OH Inf. 1864); 3 females, 1 under 5 yrs, 1 bet. 5-10, 1 bet. 20-30. (nighbors this census are John Hadley & George Hughes.) There is no Alfred Cass or Cast listed as head of household Clinton Co. census for 1820 or 1830 (1820 A Cast is probably Aquilla Cast, who is mentioned 1830 census), & not taxpayer list for 1812. There is no Alfred Cass or Cast as head of household Clinton Co. census for 1850 or 1860. (Perhaps Alfred Cast was living with Cass relatives, or he moved back to Warren Co., or died.)
