The RAINBIRD Family History Resource |
Welcome to what we hope will become the on-line resource for people studying the history of the RAINBIRD family. This site is continuously evolving and we appreciate your feedback. If you find an error or can supply any further information please see our contacts page.
There are 4 known lines to the RAINBIRD family, 2 in Suffolk and 2 in Essex. This site currently deals the John RAINBIRD and Sarah WESTWOOD line. The first known reference to this line is from Parish Register of Abbess Roothing, Dunmow, Essex in 1790 when John and Sarah married. John was born circa 1756 but his place of birth is still not known. I have concentrated purely on my personal line of
decadency and not followed the many other branches. If you have details of those branches or indeed the other 3 lines of RAINBIRDS, I would like to hear from you so I can fill in the bigger picture. My contact details can be found on the contacts page.
Most of the work and research shown has been my own and is a duplication of what a number of others have already done. I had already done the majority of this when I made contact with Rosemary RAINBIRD who runs the excellent RAINBIRD one name study group. Rosemary compiles a newsletter twice a year and is in the process of compiling a database of known references to RAINBIRD in the many registers and census. If you would like to receive the Newsletter I am sure Rosemary would be more than happy to hear from you and you can find her details on the contacts page. Rosemary is a mine of information and has helped many people with their research and put then in contact with others that are researching the same line of RAINBIRDs. In fact Rosemary put me in contact with someone in Canada that is researching my great-great-grandfather and his descendants, it turns out that this man is my Grandfather's cousin and he has been trying to find some information on his Uncles for a long time. I am glad to say we have been able to help each other with our research.
