LeRoy G. "Jake" Jacobs, 62, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at his residence in
Quincy. He was born March 18, 1938, in Wichita, Kan. He had been a resident
of Quincy for the past 18 years. LeRoy served with the U.S. Marine Corp from
1957 to 1960 as a Radio-Teletype Operator. He retired from Mayfair Markets as
a manager for one of their stores in Southern California after 30 years of
service in the retail sales field. LeRoy was a devoted member of the Church
at Quincy. He was a 32 year member of AA, and had served as a sponsor to
numerous other members. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American
Veterans and the American Legion. A great enjoyment in Jake's life was
spending time with his grandchildren, especially granddaughter, Kayla, of
Quincy. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold; and sister, Dorothy.
LeRoy is survived by his wife of 18 years, Linda, of Quincy; sons, Edward of
Southern California, Tom, of Everett, Wash., and Tim of Westminster;
daughters, Vickie Jacobs of Southern California, and Sheila DuBrutz of
Quincy; brothers, Paul, Charlie, Joe, Robert, Jacob and Donald, all of the
eastern United States; sisters, Pat Hommertzheim and Mary Sculler, both of
the eastern United States; and 12 grandchildren. Following cremation
services, a celebration of his life will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, at the
family's residence in Quincy. The family requests any donations in his memory
be made to the Plumas Christian School, c/o Fehrman Mortuary and Crematory,
P.O. Box 53, Quincy, CA 95971.
