"The grandfather of Nicholas Gibbs left England because of religiious and political reasons --- . He married a woman in Amsterdam and never went back to London, but sought refuge along the Rhine River in Germany, and it was in the village of Wallruth, near the town of Krumbach, Duchy of Baden that Nicholas was born Sept. 29, 1673."
