Thursday, January 23, 1919"
"George Zander Jr. aged 33 years, 9 months and 21 days, died at his home here today at 4:45 a.m. Death was due to an attack of Influenza followed up by a severe case of pneumonia.
Mr. Zander was born and reared near Bellville where he worked with his parents on the farm. Of later years he found employment with the Santa Fe Ryw. Co. in their yard here, and there proved a valuable and trustworthy
employee. He had worked for the Santa Fe for about ten years and was gradually promoted on his merit from a round house laborer to his late position as car inspector.
He is survived by his widow and five little children, his father and many other relatives.
Burial Friday at Pilgrims' Rest cemetery at 10 a.m. The Santa Fe employees here offered beautiful flowers in token of their esteem for their departed co-worker."
