"Just before leaving, (Spring of 1879, left for KS) Bob spoke crossly to his aged mother. "On the morning of Sept 6,1863, a company of Federals came to his (John Hunter's) place, as he was about moving out of the county under order No.11, (they) took two of his sons (William and David), one son-in-law (John S. Cave), one grandson (Andrew T. Owsley; age 17), one cousin (Benjamin Potter, age 75) and another man (Calvin Tate), and taking them a short distance from the house, shot them all dead, and left the bodies lying on the ground; and this aged father, with only the assistance of his neighbor, Martin Rice, hastily buried them.".

In Joan (Chiles) Eakins' book, "Order # 11"; pg 16; it is written;
"Andrew Owlsey, nephew of the Hunters, was trying to assume responsibility as the head of his family while his father was absent in the Confederate Army. He also attempted to flee, but a voice cried out, 'Five dollars to the man who drops the boy," and he was cut down. His body was found several feet from his dead comrades. Andrew was a beardless youth and eye witnesses who found him reported, 'Andy looked like a child as he lay in death.' "
