Russell Helmig's book, "Lone Jack Cemetery" states that,

Book; "Order Number 11" written by Joanne Chiles Eaken gives the age of 18 for William Hunter at the time of his death on 6 Sept 1863; I believe however this must be incorrect;
An article written by Larry Sullivan (a descendant of John S. Cave) list six children of William Hunter, the oldest being Archibald, age 19 at the time of his father's death; also named are Robert Hill age 17, Francis age 15, John abt 11, Jacob abt 8 and daughter Clementina age 14;
He also states that Archibald and Robert Hill were away, serving in the Confederate Army at the time of their father's murder on 6 Sept 1863.
Also, listed on an 1850 census for Jackson co, MO is a Wm. Hunter, age 33, born in North Carolina, also in the household is Maria 27, born NC, Archibald age 6, Robert H. age 4, Frances M. 2 and Clementina 1, all born in Missouri.

Driving through Hutchison, 10 miles west, we stopped with a friend, Mr. Hill Hunter, a kinsman to Owsley and Ridings. Here we saw a novel sight, not uncommon in those days in western Kansas, using cornstalks for fuel. While Mrs. Hunter prepared and arranged the meal Mr. Hunter sat near the stove cutting cornstalks and feeding the fire."
from "Autobiography of John M. Tate"; written in 1943

! The book, "Order Number 11", says that David Hunter left a wife and three young children.

Julia "Judy" Potter [Parents] 1, 2, 3, 4 was born 5, 6, 7, 8 on 23 Apr 1838 in IN. She died 9, 10 on 27 Apr 1919. Julia married John David Hunter.

Dr. Edward Ragsdale's account is in one of the three account books. (from the distillery of George Henry Shawhan); He is the doctor who cared for the wounded at the Bottle of Lone Jack in 1862.";

Virginia Easley [Parents] 1 was born 2 in 1844 in Lone Jack, Jackson co, MO. She died 3 on 7 Dec 1917 in [Lone Jack, Jackson co, MO] and was buried 4 in Lone Jack, Jackson co, MO. Virginia married 5 Dr. Edward Ragsdale in 1876.

Obituary for Mrs. Annie E. Yankee says she was the daughter of Dr Thomas Ragsdale; all other information points to Dr.Edward Ragsdale as being her father and Dr Thomas Ragsdale as a brother.

Obituary for her brother, William Lee Ragsdale, referes to his"--- sister, Mrs Z.W. Yankee, of Lone Jack",(MO);
also states that Wm. Lee Ragsdale was the"--- son of Dr Edward Ragsdale and a brother of the late Dr. T.J.Ragsdale of Lee's Summit", (MO).

Dr. Edward Ragsdale's obituary states, " Four of the children survive, one of whom is Dr. Thos. Ragsdale, ---"; doesn't name the other children.

There is a Mrs Z.W. Violett mentioned as a daughter in Thomas Ragsdale's obituary.

In the book, "Lone Jack Cemetery", that i'm using as a reference, there is a relationship section which confirms my belief that there was a mistake made in Annie (Ragsdale) Yankee's obituary. This section shows Annie Yankee as daughter of Edward & Elizabeth Ragsdale and Florence Violett as daughter of Thomas & Parthenia Ragsdale.

They had the following children:

  F i Vernie E Yankee 1 was born 2 on 15 Dec 1890. She died 3 on 17 Oct 1986.
