WAR RECORDS OF CONNECTICUT

REVOLUTIONARY ARMY ROLL, APRIL 19TH, 1775, TO SEPTEMBER 3, 1783.

This roll contains the names, time of service, etc., of all found on the State records of Connecticut. It will be noticed that the earliest date of service named thereon is January 1, 1777, while the State had at least two regiments in the siege of Boston, May to December, 1775, the one under Maj. John Durkee, nine companies of which are said to have been in the Battle of Bunker Hill; the other regiment was under Genl. Spencer, three companies of which, severally under Captains Chester, Clark and Coit, were certainly in the battle, and lost heavily in killed and wounded. Pomp, Sip, and perhaps one or two others named below in Col. Durkey's Regiment, were probably colored men.
